24.01.2022 I had an awesome maternity session with the Goode family in Coogee. We couldnt have picked a better Sunday morning. After getting a few formal portraits we headed off to the beach for a documentary session where the family played in the sand and did a lot of trips to the sea with a bucket to fetch water for their cute kiddo. I LOVE family sessions and I am incredibly grateful to the families that trust me to capture sweet moments of their families. ... 23.01.2022 Feel Good Friday & Update on whats new I just wanted to pop on here quickly and say thank you for supporting me and my business. June was a great month for my business and myself personally. I started to gain more clarity in knowing who I am the right photographer for and the type of couples and families I want to help serve. ... I am going to be making a few changes in my business by moving towards including products in all my standard wedding & family packages which I am super excited for. In the last month 6 framed prints were ordered which I realised makes me super happy. These clients will be able to not just get great professional photos but enjoy them every day in their home in the form of beautiful artwork. I also felt it was time for me to split my brand. My wedding & families going forward are mostly going to be separate. The odd family/wedding post will slip in from time to time but I figured its easier for me if I split my accounts. I will be sharing the name for my family photography business next week. I am super excited about the changes that are happening and the clarity that I am gaining. 23.01.2022 Sweet as... Cake from @delarosacakes I’ve been having a pretty awesome two weeks. Its been kind of surreal actually and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone that’s been contributing to my happy state ... Some of the highlights have been - 2 couples chose me to be their photographer for their special day. - I got to dance to Spice Girls, Venga Boys and Backstreet Boys last night. Have a few cheeky drinks, meet new people, connect with old friends. - Exhibited at one of my favorite venues @mandoonestate for @mandoonestateweddings open day and meet some awesome couples - I’ve been getting more organised and making good progress with my personal development goals for this month. Overall improving aspects of my anxiety. - I got to spend more time reconnecting with friends. - Go for walks more frequently and enjoy the beautiful winter weather we’ve been having. 19.01.2022 Double tap all you sweet tooth fans out there. So I sometimes see questions being asked in FB groups and I thought I would help provide some perspective. One of the most common questions I have seen is "What is the price of a cake?"... The style of cake and the amount of time required as well as other factors can greatly affect it. Factors are: - Number of people at reception - Number of tiers - Fondant/buttercream - Gold leaf? No Gold Leaf? - Intricate details? - Ruffles? - Florals? - Bakers professionalism and experience As you can see its not quite straight forward as every cake is different so share with your baker as much information as possible or get on a phone and let them walk you through their process. Youll figure out what you want and need with their help. Trust the process. 16.01.2022 Your time is priceless What Ive realised the last few months is that you cant put a price on your time, energy, happiness and health. Its priceless. Logically I knew this but I dont feel like I was living it.... Are you living your beliefs? Do you value your time and energy? Your happiness? Your health? If you did do you think you would choose to do the same things you choose to spend your time on everyday? What about the people you choose to spend time with? Friends? Acquaintances? Planning your wedding day by yourself is a huge task. One that requires a lot of time and energy. Time and energy you may not have. I always recommend people to value their time, sanity and invest in the expertise of people that specialise with wedding planning. Trusting someone to help plan your day doesnt mean you lose total control it just means you have a captain steering your ship and making sure youre not sailing into any storms or investing your resources into the wrong crewmen (suppliers). There a bazillion advantages of investing in the right wedding planning team or day of co-ordinator. You cant put a price on their services and your sanity. 16.01.2022 How does wedding planning make you feel? I recently chatted to a friend that was stressed out. She was super excited as shes newly engaged and quite organised but was feeling quite overwhelmed with the planning process. Is there anything in the planning process youre unsure about?... I asked Emily What is your vision for the day? Even though Im not a planner I know having a vision is the first step in creating a plan and kicking things off. For example. Maybe your vision is - Barefoot, boho vibes on the beach. - No church but ceremony and reception in one place. Once you have an idea of your vision youll have a better idea with picking a venue. Youll be able to narrow your search by looking for venues that have ceremony and reception spots at/near the beach. Steps 1. Start off with your vision. 2. Lock in a venue and then start the next steps. Knock off the first two steps and then worry about the rest. Try and not get sucked in with pinterest. Its tempting but might throw you off in concentrating on things that you should be knocking off first. I dont know about you but I can easily spend hrs on Pinterest and totally lose track and forget why I even first went to it in the first place. If you want to have fun with Pinterest at the beginning try pinning for your vision board. Venues, flowers, is the ceremony and reception outdoors? Is it a church? Do you have food trucks? Live music? Modern vibes? More rustic and chilled? Pinterest will be great with your vision and might help give you an idea of the venue you could be leaning toward. Dont get overwhelmed. 15.01.2022 Hey Perth Peeps Its been a while since Ive shown my face on here so I thought I would start off with a big hey and share a bit of my heart with you. Im Kirsty, lead wedding and family photographer based in Perth. ... Ive called Perth home for just over a year and feel super blessed to be living in this beautiful place. I love everything about it! The beautiful beaches. The hot AF summers that make me want to pretty much just float on the waves all day or hide in my beach tent. The fact I generally dont spend more then 35 min driving anywhere I am going. The farmers markets on the weekends. The beautiful orchards and farms that I get to pick fruit in and visit almost all year round. The fact I can go and settle my cravings by visiting Swan Valley for cider, beer, wine or sweet treats. There is so much choice and I never get bored popping up the road to it. If I need a change of scenery I can go down South and explore that beautiful region. But the best bit is the chilled out friendly people of WA. Ive really loved the "easy as" "no dramas" "no worries" attitude and warm and welcoming nature of the people Ive met. So thank you for supporting me and my business. 12.01.2022 Celestine & Harry <3 Celestine and Harry met at church around 4 years ago. They chose to get married in the beautiful Trinity Uniting Church on St Georges on the 7th of March 2020.... The reception was held at AQWA as the aquarium has always been a special place for Harry as he loves fish. Ask yourself these questions and see if you can make a decision about the answers. No fence sitting now. 1. Do I want getting ready photos? 2. Do I want getting ready photos of my partner too? 3. Am I someone that likes the peace of mind insurance brings? 4. Do I want a lot of images? If you answered: Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes - You need full day coverage with 2 photographers. Whenever you want getting ready photos that would be full day coverage If you like insurance and want as many images of the day as possible then you want 2 photographers. 08.01.2022 Cheers to Wednesdays!!! Do you ever get to the mid week and youre like what just happened? Its crazy. This year feels slow and fast at the same time. I cant get used to it. I am looking forward to this weekend. I dont have any specific plans as of yet. 08.01.2022 Worried the kiddos won’t behave and you won’t get a great shot of them being all cute and sweet - the way my experience and process flows this will not happen. The shot might look different to this one though. Expressions will always be there but maybe it will look like a dance party, an expression of joy while being thrown in the sky ... Maybe a laugh or smile during a cuddle or tickle session. There are always great shots from every family session but they just may look a bit different. Don’t worry about the kids having a meltdown or not co-operating. Challenging situations are my speciality we’ll play games, run around, I’ll pull crazy faces and we’ll have a good time. They dont know what they need so the idea of choosing a package is overwhelming AF.... 3. There a million and 1 photographers and they dont know how to shortlist their favourites because They dont know what they like exactly.
