Apologies for the sudden change in procedure since our email last night, our software developer only completed this change today. Please remember you must live within 5km of the toy library to use this service under the current restrictions.

24.01.2022 Did you welcome a new baby into your home in January, February or March this year? Do you live with 5km of Rosebud Toy Library? We recognise that with the first 6 months of your babys life being spent mostly under COVID restrictions you may not have been able to access many community resources. With this in mind we would like to help you reconnect with the local community with a free 6 month Toy Library membership.* Now is the perfect time to sign up to the Rosebud Toy Lib...rary as from 6 months of age babies may: *Sit steadily without help for longer periods. *Start passing objects such as toys from hand to hand. *Progress from holding things in their palm to using the thumb and first and second fingers. *Start banging objects together. *Throw objects. *Take items out of containers. We have lots of great toys that will help them develop these skills and help you provide new and inviting experiences for them. During COVID restrictions we are only able to offer this free membership to members who live within 5km of the Rosebud Toy Library and can access our "Click & Collect" service. 24.01.2022 While we are in Stage 4 we arent able to use the toy library but there are lots of other ways to continue being Eco Friendly. This video including all of the illustrations has been produced by a 15 year old student at Frankston High School. For someone so young she has done an amazing job and it is well worth a watch. 23.01.2022 Ever lost the tv remote to find its been put in your handbag? Or found 20 blueberries carefully stashed into your coffee? Then odds are youve got a toddler pr...acticing posting! (Or a poltergeist ) This fascinating and exasperating stage is actually very important and starts a lot earlier than many parents think. It is known professionally as the Containment Schema, where children learn about spatial concepts like size, and what happens to things when we cant see them any more. This schema also helps develops fine motor skills and eventually will even help your child learn to write! Using relational language like in, out, next to and behind helps engage with your child and develop their verbal connections. Whats the funniest thing youve ever found "posted"? At the toy library, you can find posting toys like letterboxes, barns with animals, nesting cups, even water table with containers for children to fill with water or rice giving children opportunities to practice these skills without putting surprises in your pockets! 22.01.2022 SO THIS JUST HAPPENED! Sooooo exciting! Mornington Peninsula Shire Council just adopted the Beyond Zero Waste Strategy and Single Use Plastic F...ree policy. Both were adopted based on input from so many of us - big round of applause! Thank you for all the time and effort thats gone into providing your feedback and ideas. Every single Councillor voted yes. They even went a step further and asked to start prep for a local law to ban single use plastics - leading the pack ahead of state and federal government. This is big fabulous news for the Pen and we commend Councils leadership. To start with, we will see Council phase out all single use plastics in their facilities and events on their land. Councillors also recommended the continued roll out of the Plastic Free Places Program beyond Mount Martha. 14.01.2022 We have been very fortunate to be supported this year by the work Good360 Australia does. Firstly they have helped us expand our Duplo collection meaning hundreds of local children have access to these high quality toys. Most recently they have provided us with Empower packs that we have started to distribute to local children. We hope these packs will brighten the day of children who may be feeling isolated and confused during these restrictions.

12.01.2022 Out and about again today making sure local children know we are thinking of them and appreciate them staying home. This has been a particularly hard time for the youngest members of the community who dont understand why their friends and families cant visit and why they cant go to the playground, playgroup or toy library. We hope the small gifts we drop off will bring a smile on this damp day. This project has been made possible thanks to good369.org.au and the many donations they have received.

12.01.2022 You know the toy. It has 8 different buttons, sings in 3 languages, 2 educational modes. But yet.... your kid is pressing the same button. Over. And over.... Again. Congrats! Your child is learning cause and effect! Toys that do something when a child interacts with them are called "instant reward toys", and help teach children that if they do something, there is a predictable reaction. But why the same song over and over? Allowing children to have control over their play (even if it means you have to listen to the same 6 notes ad nauseum) gives them a chance to develop a specific skill (such as fine motor strength and hand eye coordination required to press a button), to develop confidence, and identify their own likes and dislikes. It also provides a sense of familiarity and reassurance, which is soothing - like how many adults listen to the same album over and over, or watch reruns of their favourite shows (we see you, Friends). One of the greatest benefits of a toy library is you can take the toy back! Sick of that particular song? Back to the toy library it goes. Which toy is your child currently driving you mad with?

These packs have items to help the whole family, including sunscreen which can be put to good use now that the weather is improving. We recognise that the recent extension of stage 4 restrictions is proving very difficult for families both mentally and financially. 04.01.2022 Joining a toy library is so much more that access to toys, its a weekly trip out to a place you feel welcome with small children, its meeting up with friends, is access you items you might not normally be able to afford or store, its one way to be more sustainable and most importantly its fun. You can sign up to Rosebud Toy Library even though we are closed temporarily. You wont be charged until your first visit.
