19.01.2022 If you see someone in trouble in the water: Call 000 (Triple Zero) Ask for Police and report an in-water emergency... This will trigger a coordinated emergency response.

17.01.2022 Can you spot the rips on Rosedale beach? Rosedale is an unpatrolled beach & our main beaches have a number of rips on any given day of the year. The attached video shows 3 of the most troublesome rips with two on the main beach in front of the carpark & one on the southern beach.... Rosedale can have over 7 rips on the 3 eastern facing beaches and at times can be very strong particularly during incoming tides. Thanks to Michael Skipper, Up+Away Images for the aerial drone footage taken on the 10/01/2021.

09.01.2022 Beware of dangerous rips and strong currents on Rosedale Beach - 8 people assisted from rips (three off to hospital) since 27/12/2020. Be careful & phone 000 if you see someone in trouble.

06.01.2022 Broulee Psychology is running Bushfire recovery programs to help people manage their mental health post-bushfires. They are open to anyone and are free. They offer support, either face-to-face (small group), via Facebook or you can receive modules by email to watch in your own time. Plus, a small group program for young people (5-16 years). https://www.facebook.com/media/set/

05.01.2022 Thanks BBSLSC for quick response to a report of two guys in a strong rip at Rosedale this afternoon. They managed to get themselves out of trouble but had a struggle in the rough conditions.

03.01.2022 Can you spot the rips? Rosedale is an unpatrolled beach & our main beaches have a number of rips on any given day of the year. Attached are a couple of still photographs with red arrows showing the rip locations.... Rosedale can have over 7 rips on the 3 eastern facing beaches and at times can be very strong particularly during incoming tides. Thanks to Michael Skipper, Up+Away Images for the aerial drone footage taken on the 10/01/2021. Surf lifesaving Australia say that areas where rips are found will often have patches of calm water, where waves are not breaking and the water may be a slightly different colour. A further indicator may be sandy coloured water extending beyond the surf break. Be aware that rips can change shape and location quickly and may be difficult to see. This might look enticing please be careful around these areas as the current’s can be particularly strong. Contrary to popular belief rips typically don't take you hundreds and hundreds of meters out to sea & in fact most of the Rosedale rips will likely only carry about 50mt. SLSA recommend that if you are caught in a rip DONT PANIC & STAY CALM, don’t swim against the current as this will tire you out very quickly. Raise your arm to attract attention from the shoreline for help. It’s better to ride & float with the current and then swim across the current sideways then back to the shore. If you see somebody requiring assistance in the surf then throw in an angel ring, surfboard or some other flotation device in order for them to float on the current making their way back to the beach. We have had 9 people requiring assistance in the water since 27th Dec 2020 with 4 requiring hospitalisation. Lets not have any increases on this number. Please ensure you survey the beach for a suitable location before jumping in the water. Rips, currents and undertows are all dangerous and all are present at Rosedale beaches. Please take particular care & keep an eye on children in the water & ensure they are not being carried up and down the beach in any rips or currents. Learn how to "read the beach", stay safe & have fun. If you are concerned it may be better to go to a patrolled beach such as Malua Bay or Broulee beaches. 01.01.2022 The RFS have just launched a new & improved warning and icon colour advice system to better relay information on bush fire events. This is now a national standard and is being implemented in December. I urge you all to update your "Fires Near Me" mobile phone app to ensure you have the latest info. The following link will further explain the new updates and this is also replicated on the Home page & the bushfire Info pages of the RAI website as well.... https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//gen/australian-warnings-system Remember don’t wait for a warning. Take action quickly and don’t delay.
