13.01.2022 Everyone in East Gippsland must be aware of the fire danger forecast for tomorrow and act today. Full info here: https://go.vic.gov.au/JYsnt6 Visitors to East ...Gippsland: If you are visiting East Gippsland you must leave today - Sunday 29 December and stay away on Monday 30 December. You are in danger if you are in the area as follows - in the high country from Omeo to Bonang all the way south through to the coast between east of Bairnsdale to Cann River. If you dont leave today, road closures are likely to mean you are unable to get home. No one should be in remote forest areas in East Gippsland today and Monday. This includes anyone who is camping, driving, biking or walking in parks or forests. It is not possible to provide support and aid to all the visitors currently in the East Gippsland region. East Gippsland residents: If you live in East Gippsland now is the time to enact your fire plan. Where possible, move animals and livestock to safer locations. You need to move to a safer place, outside of East Gippsland, today as the risk of the fires becoming uncontrollable starts early Monday morning. Stay with friends or family outside the area. Stay very aware of messaging - and if you choose to leave do not delay Do not rely on firefighting crews being able to protect you and your property If you leave -register with Register.Find.Reunite online: register.redcross.org.au East Gippsland fires. People who are in far East Gippsland, including Cann River and Mallacoota, should consider what they will do if the Princes Highway is shut and they are isolated until the road can be reopened.

02.01.2022 Hello all my name is Chris or Speedie as most of you know me by. I am the current Rosedale Unit Controller and in the last 12 months we like most have had a challenging year, we have lost members and gained members, we have been impacted by Coronavirus but we have been there for any one in need. In the last couple of months we have had our capability assessment for RAIR or for people who are not familiar with the term Road Air Industrial and Rail Rescue and we passed so co...ngratulations to the team and the rest of the unit. Then we rolled in to the first crew member supervised training for the unit which we had 3 members participate in, 2 with some training gaps to fill and 1 new member Darren Roylance. All successfully completed and passed and are now able to get on the truck and attend jobs . Last night Darren was presented with his pager and I also presented the 6 members KC, Emily, Josh, Brad and Sam with a rescue knife that I got them for all the hard long night’s training sessions that they did in the lead up to the capability assessment. I would also like to thank the rest for the unit members for the work and support over the last 12 months and the community for their support to the unit. On behalf of myself and the unit members we would like to say merry Christmas and happy new year, please be safe over the Christmas period and think of all the volunteers across Australia that will miss out on Christmas lunch or dinner helping their community. 01.01.2022 All Hazards Approach. With this coming week of higher temperatures the below provides guidance around an All Hazards Approach. In Victoria over the past 12 months more people have been Injured or had a fatal outcome with storms and wind then fires. The primary contributing factor being from wind or heat stress bringing down trees.... The long term statistics indicate that Extreme Heat is a high ranking hazard followed by flood then cyclone. Be prepared for an All Hazard approach.
