24.01.2022 A quick update from our produce department... The arrival of the warmer weather here in Queensland means that our local broccoli and cauliflower growers will b...e finishing up very soon, if not already. We are starting to see some of these brassicas trickle in from our southern growers, but it'll be at least a week or so, until everything is in full swing. Until then, you will notice these lines will be in short supply. In the meantime, we have plenty of kales, silverbeets, spinach, asparagus, chinese vegetables, carrots, beans, etc. to keep your taste buds singing!

09.01.2022 What's in season in July The middle of Winter and the cold weather is here. Icy mornings and warm beds, the feeling of hibernation, who identifies? A s...ense of slowing down and slow cooking. It can be slow-growing for some of our winter produce too! Delicious tangelos (the ones you're seeing on this picture) are here to add to the citrus frenzy we have in winter. A cross between a mandarin and grapefruit, they really are a point of difference with their unique flavour. Mandarins, navel oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit are still abundant during this month. Giving us our Vitamin C kick to beat any cold that may dare to approach. Passionfruit and Pawpaws are joining pineapples this month to keep the tropical feel going in this cold weather for a bit longer. Apples, avocados, custard apples, rhubarb and strawberries are all still available. Celeriac shows itself this month, a versatile vegetable with a distinctive flavour, it can be eaten raw, roasted, steamed and mashed. Have you tried? Celeriac chips make a nice difference from potato chips. The winter root vegetables parsnip, turnip and swede are all here to join the trusty carrot, potato, beetroot and sweet potato. All giving substance to stews, soups and roasts. Brussels sprouts, loved or hated, are with us in July. They join their bigger Brassica cousins cabbages, cauliflower, broccoli and kale. This underrated vegetable is delicious lightly stir-fried or roasted. Globe Artichoke brings a bit of extra interest this month with its heart of goodness. Still going strong in July are leek, silverbeet, onion, Asian greens, pumpkin, celery, fennel, ginger, garlic and spring onion.
