25.01.2022 AirBnB Kennels @ The Retreat?! Calm, peaceful hand overs are a priority at the Retreat. We empty the kennels for first timers and ask the owners to place their own dogs in their selected kennel and quietly settle them in. This is dog psychology at work. The kennel now smells of the dog and their owners, and becomes the dog's safe space they will happily relax in. ... Throughout their stay, the dog will voluntarily and calmly return to that same kennel, without the need for a leash, and wait on their bed for their reward, a juicy treat. I've had numerous people comment they'd happily pay to stay in the kennels at the Retreat on our immaculate, clean floors and comfy beds with freshly washed blankets - but this was a first! Gotta love these dedicated dog owners!

24.01.2022 Spring has Sprung @ The Retreat And air conditioning is coming - hurray! The big doggos in the kennels and the little munchkins in the Home from Home will all be treated to lovely cold air this summer, thanks to you guys keeping us busy, allowing us save up our pennies. 24.01.2022 Rules @ The Retreat Folks, a reminder that we have Opening Hours that must be adhered to. The hot pink sign on the gates cannot be missed and not only clearly states our hours, but states pick ups and drop offs will *not occur outside of these hours*. ... If you are early, please wait up at the gates until we are open. If you enter the Retreat outside of these times you are: a) not covered under our liability insurance b) may encounter unfriendly dogs who are off leash c) annoying our neighbours - YOUR presence sets all the dogs barking who were resting quietly until you arrived Cheers all! 19.01.2022 New Species Discovered @ The Retreat? Since Captain Creek has been flowing at the Retreat, several mysterious new species have been observed, wallowing in the water with apparent menace. Perhaps you might recognise your own creek-o-dile below..? ... We have vacancies for March, but the Easter weekend is nearly full.

18.01.2022 Holidays are over @ The Retreat Time to get back into it! Rosie & Dick have had a lovely rest this week whilst I've been busy. The paddocks have been re-seeded, the grass is back and we're ready to get back to work. It's been eerily quiet here without any guests - so show us your doggos!

No one will ever know that we drove over a tree stump and pulled half the bull bar off now! Took 15 minutes to straighten us out as a walk in and refused any payment - what a kind hearted fella! ... 14.01.2022 Easter availability @ The Retreat Due to cancellations, we now have availability for Easter from Saturday 3rd April onwards. The lovely ladies at Agnes Vets tell us snake bites are keeping them busy these past few weeks. Did you know we offer one day Snake Avoidance training courses for dogs? ... 'Baxter' our resident training python is getting fat and lazy, call to enquire and let's help Baxter regain his waist!

13.01.2022 Looking Gorgeous @ The Retreat We only take the finest, most handsome dogs here at The Retreat - check out these beauties! Please accept my apologies to those I've had to turn away over the past few weeks. Sometimes, I need time and space to work with the challenging breeds and personalities that come in, and have to restrict the numbers. ... Finally, the automatic gates will be going up at the entrance to The Retreat this month, to improve security for your dogs and the site. If the gates are open, come on in! If the gates are shut, you've arrived outside of hours and will have to organise another suitable time to drop off / collect the pooch. This also allows me the freedom to work with dogs off leash on site, without the risk of visitors turning up early, late or unannounced. Loving the winter season, Agnes! 05.01.2022 Heat Wave @ The Retreat Well! Summer in Agnes is proving challenging! Not just for my delicate British constitution but 4wks without rain is putting the beautiful flora and fauna of The Retreat, to the test. The doggos are keeping cool with the valley breeze, the shade under our huge gum trees and shade sails - and of course are taking great delight in making plenty of mud with the splash pools in the day paddocks. The cool tiles in the Pooch Parlour, new flooring in the ...kennels and industrial fans, all provide ample respite from the heat. We are full for Christmas & New Year, but we have a few vacancies from 8th January 2020. Please note a slight price increase from 1st January, to cover GST & merchant fees. A big thank you to all the customers that have supported Rosie, Dick & I since opening in October 2019 - you are all wonderful! Thank you for the gifts, dog toys and particularly the hazelnut lattes for those early morning drop offs - you know who you are! And finally, a HUGE thank you to Jo, who stepped in and ran The Retreat when my appendix inconveniently burst 4wks ago. You are wonderful, capable & have a big, kind heart! Merry Christmas to all - and now, bring on the January rains please, Mother Nature!

The locals have been teasing me for 6 months about how we'll get flooded in at the Retreat once Captain Creek starts flowing - we've been so excited waiting for it to happen! Fear not - if you need to drop dogs off and don't have a 4WD, we have kayaks and surfboards to 'float' you across. ... Not really. We'll just come & pick you up

I was proud to watch my dog training mentor Lauren Langman winning the Championship Agility with her Cocker Spaniel, Blink. And for all you Dachshund fans out there - your breed won Best in Show! ... 01.01.2022 Rainy Days @ The Retreat Just like kids, dogs get a little bored on rainy days, when they're not allowed out to play in the mud. To keep the 'kids' busy, we do a little complimentary training, by playing games that focus on self control, calmness and optimism. There's also a fair amount of silliness that goes on, followed by long, lazy naps.... We have vacancies for February.
