21.01.2022 Opera Seria calls the tune at Ascot Consistent mare Opera Seria bounced back from a luckless outing to score a dynamic win in the B & T Watson Memorial Handicap (1600m) at Ascot. Opera Seria had little luck when fifth in Restricted 74 company on December 1 but co-trainer Clint Price said the effort gave the stable the confidence to suggest the four-year-old could bounce back three weeks later.... We thought she was a pretty good thing beaten last start. She just didn’t get a crack at them until about 50 (metres) out from home, Price, who trains Opera Seria in partnership with his father Ross, said. She needed a bit of luck going into this but I thought if that went her way then she would go pretty close. Kyra Yuill was aboard Opera Seria at her unlucky last start before retaining the ride in the mare’s latest assignment. Yuill did a terrific job early to have Opera Seria travelling comfortably midfield soon after the start. The easy early passage left Opera Seria with plenty in hand for her final bid for victory. Opera Seria took until the 200 metres to hit top gear before she swamped the placegetters to score by a length. She actually did it really well, Clint Price said. I thought they were going to test her 200 out but she did it easy in the end. I think on that run, she can definitely win another couple in this grade. She’s not top class but she looks like she will win a few more Saturday races I think. The victory was Opera Seria’s third from 14 starts while the $26,000 first prizemoney took her stakes tally to more than $60,000. Congratulations to Opera Seria’s owners and breeders - K Biggs Enterprises Pty Ltd(Mgr: K Biggs), Bagden Pty Ltd Syndicate(Mgr: W D Biggs) and P R Waller. http://priceracing.com.au//Opera+Seria+calls+the+tune+at+A MiStable 2012

20.01.2022 Accelarometer dazzles at Ascot Boom four-year-old Accelarometer continued his unbeaten campaign with a barnstorming win in the Facebook/Perth Racing Handicap (1500m) at Ascot. The gelding started his summer preparation with an easy win from close to the speed at Bunbury on November 15 before producing a contrasting performance to post his maiden city success at Ascot.... Accelarometers imposing Bunbury win convinced top jockey William Pike to stick with the gelding for his first metropolitan start since his fine second in the Listed Belmont Guineas (1600m) on June 23. An awkward draw of barrier 10 forced Pike to take the top prospect back in the field but he was still unable to get nearer than three-wide to the inside fence while a fast pace prevailed up front. The wide run had its positive side as Accelarometer had plenty of galloping room throughout the race, especially when Pike eased him wider to improve into the race from the 600 metres. Accelarometer gained momentum rounding the Ascot home turn before hitting his top with 300 metres to run. The son of McFlirt wound up brilliantly to descend on the front-runners before his momentum carried him to what to turned out to be a soft 1-1/4 length win, showing Accelarometer was capable of winning races in much higher grade than the Rating 74 event. Accelarometer notched his third win from seven starts in the $40,000 race while the $26,000 winners cheque took his prizemoney tally to more than $70,000 but the manner of his victory confirmed there was plenty more excitement in store. Congratulations to Accelarometers owners - G R Williamson, Mrs J V Williamson.

13.01.2022 Spanish Madam returns with a bang at Mt Barker A seven-week break did Spanish Madam the world of good, judging by her brilliant win in the Bon N Beths Petunias Maiden (1300m) at Mount Barker. Capel training duo Ross and Clint Price decided to give the daughter of Hurricane Sky a break after a fair effort at Bunbury on October 21 but the time away from the track rejuvenated Spanish Madam.... Spanish Madam had no favours in her return to racing after jockey Jason Whiting was unable to get the mare in closer than three-wide after beginning from barrier 11. The mare travelled comfortably for Whiting despite her wide run to be poised to strike once the field turned for home. Spanish Madam sprinted stylishly to open a three-length break on her opposition in a matter of strides to end the race as a contest. Whiting was kind to Spanish Madam over the final furlong but she still held a comfortable 1-1/2 length margin at the end of the $8000 event. Spanish Madam earned a $5600 winners cheque for her efforts to claim her first win in seven starts after recording three minor placings in her four previous runs before her breakthrough success. Congratulations to Spanish Madams owners - Mrs T J Price, Mrs H Price, R G Sayers, P M Bartlett, R Tucker, G C Dickie, J M Trouchet. MiStable 2012

07.01.2022 Accelarometer outstanding again at Ascot Budding star Accelarometer showed another dimension to his armoury when he notched his third straight win in gutsy fashion in the Combined Metal Industry Handicap (1500m) at Ascot. Accelarometer endured a hard run at his toughest test to date in a contrast from his first-up win from the front at Bunbury and his barnstorming success in Rating 74 company at his previous outing at Ascot....
