22.01.2022 The NY Times posted quite an interesting article about smiling while exercising and if it can improve your endurance. While the article states that people who smile while exercising experience 2.78% more efficiency, many find it difficult to smile while trying to breathe and regulate their heartbeat. I find the trick is to not try and avoid the pain of the exercise, but rather to observe it. Embrace the pain and see it as a gift that you are alive and can experience. Smile knowing that you CAN exercise - what a gift - enjoy every second of it! What do you think? Smile or War Face?

16.01.2022 Special Charity 12-Days of Christmas Workout Sat 19 Dec 9am, Edwards Park - Port Melbourne Each year we host a 12-Days of Christmas Charity Workout to raise money for Bluearth Foundation.... You know the song, right?..."On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me...on the second day of Christmas my true love sent to me..." and so on. Well, replace the gifts with different exercises and now you have a BRILLIANT Christmassy workout. It's fun. It's merry. It's a workout :) We would love to see as many of you there as possible. We allow 75 min for the workout - there's so much Merry to be had, that there's no way we can get it all done in 60 min! As we weren't able to have a Rossfit Christmas party this year, it would be great to all get together and wish each other a Merry Christmas in person. Rossfit will put on a spread of post-workout snacks/nutrition, so we can refuel while we reminisce the year that was. 13.01.2022 When I’m asked how come I don’t get bored eating a processed carb-free diet...... I present to you today’s lunch - French omelette with free-range pork - 3 eggs... - splash coconut milk - 1/4 zucchini, finely grated - 1/4 red capsicum, finely chopped - 1 spring onion, finely chopped - salt & pepper - smoked sheep & goat feta - 4 slices free-range smoked pork neck, grilled Combine the first 6 ingredients and cook in coconut oil. Place across the middle thinly sliced feta and pork neck (I used Gamze Smokehouse nitrate-free pork neck) a few minutes before the omelette is ready. Fold two sides into the middle. Serve with chopped raw veg sticks and basil pesto (I used Gorgeous George Probiotics pesto. So good!!). You see, no processed carbs required for delicious & nutritious eating! #organic #paleo #glutenfree #processedcarbsfree #healthyfood #healthytummy

09.01.2022 Can you feel it? I can. It's really noticeable isn't it - the amount of 'stuff' going on has just increased. Summer arrives tomorrow, and that is so so great - loving the longer warmer days, but with several months of very little going on at all, it's a bit of a shock to the system having social events, weekends away. I'm not complaining - in fact, I'm so grateful for all that we have...I'm just also aware of the need to manage my output, and continue to focus on 'capacity building' activities in my life to ensure that I've got all the vitality I want to blast through the silly season with an abundance of energy. If you want some advice and support implementing healthy habits (exercise, nutrition, rest/recovery techniques & mindfulness) join our Advent Calendar Event - starting tomorrow: https://rossfit.com.au/advent-calendar/

05.01.2022 Good morning Melbourne #BayDip #PortMebourne

05.01.2022 It all started with an episode of Billions... ....to be honest, many of my food moments start with a random inspiration, and this one happened to be while watching Billions. One of the characters whipped together Eggs in Purgatory, before telling Chuck Rhoades to leave so he could enjoy his lunch. One of my favourite egg dishes is baked eggs. Eggs and a delicious tomato-based sauce baked in the oven.... In this episode of Billions the character prepared his dish entirely on the stove top. So I thought I’d give it a go myself. Well, I think I’ve found my new favourite way to prepare eggs!!! Cooking the eggs on the stove produced a more moist result. The eggs were perfect. 05.01.2022 What a year!! Thinking back to Army days - we’d probably refer to 2020 as character building....at the time it’s all sorts of bad, but in retrospect we see the lessons from the experience, and grow. Some have not made it through this year. Some have lost special people. Some have experienced huge hardship. I hope 2021 brings some relief and hope of better times to come. Here are some photos from the year that sum up Rossfit 2020 and my year personally...note the dinner-plate ...sized cookie... To the members of the Rossfit community - congratulations on your hard work and commitment to building and maintaining your health during these turbulent times. Thank you for your support and flexibility as myself and the Rossfit team thought on our feet to change things up and provide support to you in new ways. We did good team. We did good! We supported each other as members of our community dealt with: - anxiety and depression - hotel quarantine and isolation from loved ones - two lockdowns in Melbourne - loneliness and grief - learning how to look after their health and mental well-being while under new and often intensified stressors Looking forward to next year - we don’t know how the year will look exactly - but what I’m confident of is that the Rossfit community will continue to support each other, grow and deal with whatever life has to throw at us....even if it’s dinner-plate sized cookies...in fact, I hope it’s dinner-plate sizes cookies #happynewyear #bestrong #grow #learn #health #fitness #holistichealth #personaltraining

02.01.2022 I just love this low-carb almond focaccia, it's not only yummy but also a super healthy alternative Ingredients 1 cup almond meal... 1/2 cup flaxseed meal 1/2 cup sunflower seed meal 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped 1/4 cup black olives, chopped 2 tsp mixed Italian herbs 1/2 tsp sea salt 100g pecorino cheese, grated 2 tsp baking powder 8 free-range organic eggs 4 tbs macadamia oil To Garnish 3 tbs pecorino cheese, grated 2 tbs sun-dried tomatoes, chopped 2 tbs black olives, chopped 2 tbs extra virgin olive oil Sea salt Method Preheat oven to 165c. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with baking paper If you’re starting with whole almonds, linseeds and sunflower seeds, place in blender/food processor and process into a meal. Place nut/seed meal into a bowl with sun-dried tomatoes, olives, herbs, salt, cheese and baking powder and mix well until combined In a separate bowl whisk the eggs, adding in the macadamia oil. Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients, combine well and add to baking pan. Bake for 30-40 min or until risen, golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven, drizzle with olive oil and garnish with olives, sun-dried tomatoes, cheese and sea salt.

01.01.2022 A big shout out to our Rossfit community. We love you! So good seeing some of you in person yesterday for the 12-Days of Christmas workout and Christmas morning tea. Thanks to @jacksonalex7 for the brilliant photos!!
