14.01.2022 Last night I attended the official launch and opening of the Creswick of the Lindsay's' Arts Trail! A project that was so many years in the making! My involveme...nt commenced quite late, way back in late 2004! And as I looked around the room I thought about all the people who had come on board and then fallen away (like myself) because they had lost hope that it would ever come to fruition. This project brought out the best & the worst in people! Perhaps it is not what everyone envisaged, but take the time to walk about the Town & have a look at the markers; they are beautiful! And I think all Creswickians should take pride in the fact that this Town produced a family of Artists who went on to 'shape Australian culture'! No other place in the Shire can claim either a 'Fine Art' or 'Literary' History as we can; now that is something to be proud of! And for the people who say, I don't like the Lindsay's art or books, or that it's a waste of money; I would just add, how many people will remember your name in 50 years time, but the Lindsay's (all now long dead) will still be remembered! The one person who can stand proud and say 'I weathered the storm' and saw it through to the end is Marg Giles; who brought this project to all of us! Well done Marg! And from someone who does appreciate the role that Artists play in bringing beauty to our world, thank you! Thank you for not giving up! And I would also like to thank Jean Baker (former Librarian at the Creswick Campus of University of Melbourne) while a member of Creswick's Historical Society; who wrote the original Creswick of the Lindsay's Walk pamphlet.

06.01.2022 31 October 2017 marks 100 years since the famous mounted charge of the 4th Light Horse Brigade into Beersheba the last great cavalry charge in history. Three... of these soldiers are remembered in the Kingston Avenue of Honour a 99-year-old living memorial commemorating the World War I service of men and women associated with the former Shire of Creswick. The Kingston Friends of the Avenue has released this video commemorating the battle and highlighting the incredible resilience, self-sufficiency and bravery of the brigade, who kept themselves and their horses alive in extreme circumstances.
