25.01.2022 Ladies of the Rossmoyne Community Singers channeled their Rock n Roll spirit at the Highway to Hell Perth Festival Finale with MD Harry Oliff as part of the 200 voices in the Voice Moves ACDC Choir. Such fun to be part of an historic event for Perth. #voicemoves #perthfestival
24.01.2022 Hi Everyone - I am looking forward to us all connecting up next Monday evening, along with Harry and Jackson. Some of you may know that the WA Opera Company is running a series of 6 free online singing lessons - it is not too late to have a look. When you log in, both of the first 2 lessons are shown. They go for 30 minutes each and are very easy to follow for anyone - you certainly DON'T have to be an opera singer. Great tips about breathing etc. https://www.waopera.asn.au/wesfarmers-arts-virtual.../

18.01.2022 Rossmoyne Community Singers was saddened this week to lose a very dear friend and choir buddy Susan Murphy. It was so lovely that we were able to have a sing for her at our rehearsal on Monday night, wed like to think that she heard us and that somehow it helped her be at peace. Susan had sung with our choir almost since it started 20+ years ago and was an inaugural member of Strike a Chord. She retired from Strike at the end of last year only because the 3 hour rehearsal was becoming a little tiring, but she was determined to keep singing with the choir. She fought a courageous battle for the past few years with much humour and great strength and dignity. We will miss her beautiful soprano voice and wonderful sense of humour. Sharing some fun times with Susan. RIP lovely lady

12.01.2022 Highway to Hell ACDC. A tribute to Fremantle's Bon Scott. Sunday 1st March from 4pm-9.30pm along Canning Hwy. A massed choir, comprising members from 35 local choirs, will perform at 7pm by the Rainbow Containers, singing a rousing 8 song arrangement by our very own musical director Harry Oliff. It's gonna be huge! Be there! #Voicemoves https://www.perthfestival.com.au/event/highway-to-hell/... This from www.songfacts.com: The title is often attributed as a phrase AC/DC guitarist Angus Young used to describe touring in America. There is a much more literal explanation, however. "Highway to Hell" was the nickname for the Canning Highway in Australia. It runs from where lead singer Bon Scott lived in Fremantle and ends at a pub/bar called The Raffles, which was a big rock 'n roll drinking hole in the '70s. As Canning Highway gets close to the pub, it dips down into a steep decline: "No stop signs... speed limits... nobody gonna slow me down." So many people were killed by driving fast over that intersection at the top of the hill on the way for a good night out, that it was called the highway to hell, so when Bon was saying "I'm on the highway to hell" it meant that he was doing the nightly or weekly pilgrimage down Canning Highway to The Raffles bar to rock and drink with his mates: "Ain't nothing I would rather do. Going down, party time, my friends are gonna be there too." This was the first AC/DC song to chart in the US. It helped drive huge sales for the Highway To Hell album, which has sold over seven million copies in America. It was AC/DC's sixth album, and their last with vocalist Bon Scott, who died in 1980 from excessive drinking. Their next album, Back In Black, was dedicated to him
