25.01.2022 The Nausori village kindergarten we built in Fiji had the dual purpose of kindergarten and evacuation centre. During Cyclone Yasa that just struck Fiji, the kindergarten served its latter purpose well. The villagers lost their crops but everyone was safe.

22.01.2022 Foodbank is another beneficiary for 2020. Foodbank is Australias largest food relief organisation, providing over 63 million meals a year to over 2400 charitie...s and 1000 schools around the country. Foodbank is a non-denominational, non-profit organisation which acts as a pantry to the charities and community groups who feed the hungry. 20.01.2022 Our breakfast meeting was held at Jamboree Heights State School as part of the school’s participation in the Rotary Junior Community Awards, sponsored by our club. Many thanks to the wonderful students and DP Lyndel Ivory-Lisle for organising this and participating. We are looking forward to viewing the students’ completed diaries soon.

20.01.2022 If you live on Queensland’s Redcliffe Peninsula and are doing it tough, your week just became a whole lot easier. While many of us sleep off big lunches on Chri...stmas Day, others struggle to find food. But thanks to BeefBank, this year hundreds of people won’t have to worry. Each year local charities band together to provide food and toys for those less fortunate, but it is often difficult to find someone to provide fresh meat. This year however, BeefBank has joined with Redcliffe Uniting Church and other like-minded organisations and is supplying meat for 300 Christmas Hamper recipients. On Friday, people from all different organisations got together to pack hampers for families and singles at Christmas. Early this week, the hampers are being distributed and each recipient will be given some fresh meat to use with their other staples. The hall was literally full of hampers on Friday. If you want to see what this generosity looks like, check out either the photos on the Redcliffe Breakfast Club Facebook at The Breakfast Club Redcliffe Inc | Facebook or the video from Redcliffe Uniting Church at Facebook #charity #poverty #Christmas #homeless

19.01.2022 One of BeefBanks slogans shall we say is "Giving back is as simple as one dollar, one day, one moment. You can change the tomorrow of someone less fortunate." ...And even if you cant support them financially then Im sure theyd love your help with a new LIKE to their page. Its the little things. https://www.beefbank.org/

13.01.2022 Miri from Nausori Kindergarten in Fiji sent our member Glen a photo of the children enjoying lying on their fold up beds and reading. The beds were sent as part of the recent container sent to Fiji. I think they’re enjoying their new fold up beds!

13.01.2022 Today is World Polio Day. Rotary, in conjunction with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, have almost eliminated polio around the world. This year, members of 3 Rotary districts participated in the Train Riders’ project to raise awareness and funds for polio eradication. Congratulations to them all with over $30,000 raised. A wonderful result. And thanks to Just Poppy’s burgers at Riverhills for providing dinner for the hungry team at Darra Station. All aboard for next year!

12.01.2022 Last Tuesday and Wednesday Sue St Clair organised us all to pack some bags for the Nomad club’s ‘It’s in the Bag’ support of ‘Share the Dignity’. Hundreds of bags were packed for this worthwhile cause. Thanks to Sue and and all the helpers. A wonderful effort.

12.01.2022 Must be Christmas! There are some good things happening in our local area. Firstly, we have a place called a Gold Coin Pantry where people doing it tough can ge...t 10 items for $2. Living frugally, this can mean the difference between enough food for about a week instead of nothing to eat. A group of kids decided to contribute some $2 coins to make a difference. So one morning recently, !5 people received a card and the surprise of their purchases being free. Apparently at least one person cried and another wanted to keep their card so much they were going to pay anyway, until it was explained that only the money, not money and card were needed. A staff member described it as magical. Elsewhere, Redcliffe Uniting Church received a donation of meat from BeefBank to include in the Community Christmas hampers which are given out each year. This is a cause supported by a collection of local charities and this year about 500 hampers will be given to needy families.

12.01.2022 A lovely dinner last night for some of our members at Cafe Primavera.

12.01.2022 Many thanks to the staff, students and families from Middle Park and Jamboree Heights State Schools for their kind and generous donations to our food hampers for Pushing Barriers. After packing 18 bags full of food items, we delivered them to some of the PB families needing some extra help. They were all very grateful. Great job members of Pushing Barriers and the Rotary Club of Brisbane Centenary.

11.01.2022 This year, our member Glen Palmer liaised with the Rotary Club of Archerfield to send several items to Fiji. The RC Archerfield were sending a container to Fiji and we thank them for inviting us to include resources for Nausori Kindergarten in Ra and for Fiji National University in Lautoka. Rebuilding the Nausori Village Kindergarten was a project of the RC Brisbane Centenary and we continue to support the village whenever possible. All of this was carried out through Donations In Kind in Kingston. Our photos show loading the container and the children of the kindy enjoying their new resources, as well as the early education staff and students from Fiji National University looking through the many boxes of books we sent in the container.

01.01.2022 Beefbank, one of our three beneficiaries of the Rotary Virtual Fun Run would love your assistance. If you are a grazier or a farmer or know someone who is; and ...they have the ability to donate a beast then we would love to personally chat with them. One beast can provide up to 1,000 sausages, 800 mince serves or 600 diced beef meals for distribution. Without a doubt that is a LOT of meals and a lot of less fortunate people being looked after.
