11.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie spent a very pleasant day out on the Hastings River yesterday. The rain held off, the river was calm and a Dolphin even graced us with his company at the front of the cruise boat, as you will see in one of the photos. We enjoyed Wraps, Pizza, Fruit salad, ice cream and a mixture of lollies for lunch. Tea, Coffee, Wine and mixed drinks were also available. If you haven't participated in this Cruise, totally recommend it.

06.01.2022 I love the Rotary that embraces our need for change, great discussion today with the DG for District 1240 who would like to hear and share more about Social Ent...erprise and Conscious Capitalism. We agreed to do this at the end of Global Enterprise Week on the 20th November. Rotary Opens Opportunities when it wants to collaborate in helping to build the new normal after we get through this awful pandemic. See more

05.01.2022 PORT MACQUARIE ROTARY CLUB - Hat Day for Mental Health Tonight’s Hat Day guest speaker was Sam Openshaw. Sam gave us a brief history of how Australian Rotary Health began to combat SIDs & then in 2000 ARH focused on the problem of Mental Health and its increase in the community. One in five Australians (20%) will experience a mental illness in a 12-month period. Nearly half (45%) of the population will experience mental illness at some stage in their lives. The problem is of... epidemic proportion and Covid-19 this year has increased the struggles for many with mental health, especially amongst our young people. ARH is providing grants for research & treatment for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders & schizophrenia. Sam shared some personal struggles she has had with a son with mental health. What a champion she & Alan have been. Moving us to tears & laughter Sam told some great stories. Picture Sam confronting the Bandidos & demanding they give back her son’s possessions. They did! Thanks Sam. Pictured are - Sam Openshaw, Frank Moxon, Mavis Wallace & Gil Paradin-Innes wearing hats from the late Keith Innes collection. Rented tonight to raise funds for Rotary health. See more
