09.01.2022 Hi Rottnest Swimrun community. The race is on! Virtually. 2020 has indeed been a stinker. We had hoped that circumnavigating our beautiful Rottnest Island this November would be a welcomed opportunity to appreciate one of the many luxuries we had tended to take for granted prior to Covid-19 but it wasn't to be. So we have turned our attention to a Virtual Rottnest Swimrun Series to get us through to next year. An opportunity to compete, engage with the Swimrun community and ...support some local businesses. So what is it? The Virtual Rottnest Swimrun is effectively two competitive swimrun races completed during two specified race "windows" over a month long period. The fastest team over both "legs" wins. Whilst the distances are specified, where and exactly how you complete them is up to you. This offers competitors flexibility and also brings an element of strategy into the race! Over the race period we will maintain and communicate the leaderboard as well as share updates and content. The series itself is supported by a 6 week, structured training plan with input from some of Perth's leading fitness and health experts: 6 week swim training plan from Paul Newsome at Swim Smooth Perth Run coaching plan by Front Runner Physiotherapy & Coaching Free Injury prevention and conditioning exercise program for runners and swimmers curated by the team at Kinima Physio and delivered via PhysiApp Access to a private Rottnest Swimrun Strava Club where you can interact with the Swimrun community and share your training achievements Training challenges leading up to the event and a 6 week structured Swimrun training plan leading up the race weekend tailored to beginner or advanced There are also some other fantastic perks from our good friends at: @Fins Seafood - $45 off first seafood box as part of their seafood club Sals pasta - 500g serve of premium pasta for the pre-race carb load!
