21.01.2022 We are off to a great start with Term 1! A lot of returning families have graduated to the 4 year old class, and new students have joined Rowen Street Kinder as well. We offer a safe, exciting and beautiful place for young minds to learn both indoors and outdoors (have you seen our play area?). The outdoor playspaces are looking beautiful, the classrooms are ready for play and learning, and most of all the teachers are excited to engage with the children.

16.01.2022 A fresh new year and a fresh new coat of paint! The sunflowers are out in the garden, and the kinder is ready to welcome both new and returning children as they start the 2020 academic year. The teachers have an exciting curriculum ready for Term 1 and are looking forward to connecting with the children. Please note, the dates for Term 1 are: 28th January 2020 to 27th March 2020. 14.01.2022 Exciting things happened in the Kinder yard over Easter. A gum was repurposed as a beautiful, natural sitting area, balance beam, camp fire ... whatever the kids make of it!

14.01.2022 A reminder to all our 2019 Kinder families, the first social event of the year - The Twilight Picnic - is on THIS FRIDAY from 6pm. The weather is looking favourable, so pack a picnic and a rug and well see you there!

13.01.2022 Here at Rowen Street Kinder we work as a community to ensure our children have the best environment to keep learning. Last week our parents and kinder staff got together as a Working Bee group to make the outdoor space even better. This included some new sand and tanbark, removing trees that were blocking supervision of children, weeding, trimming back dead branches, tidying and planting some fruit trees. Our lemon and grapefruit tree were kindly donated by Debbie, one of our staff. Thank-you to all the working bee participants for your support and time. Your contributions has made Rowen Street Kinder "sweeter" for the children!

12.01.2022 "For my snack and for my lunch, Veggies are what we like to munch. " Our teachers at Rowen Street Kinder encourage children to eat nutritious food during Morning tea and Lunch. There is a small patch in our garden where we grow fresh vegetables. Children get to visit the patch and even pick out vegetables! It is a great way to teach them about nature, what plants need to grow and how to take care of them.

11.01.2022 The Kinder children have been busy in the garden planting Autumn/Winter crops. Hands on learning helps children respect their environment and learn about sustainability. Healthy eating is also encouraged at Kinder.

To mark this years National Reconciliation Week, the City of Boroondara are holding a community event on Friday 31 May from 10-11.30am at the Greythorn Community Hub. Parents, carers and grandparents in the wider community are welcome to bring children along to enjoy the festivities, which will open with a traditional Smoking Ceremony performed by a Wurundjeri Elder and a welcome dance performed by Djirri Djirri..., followed by storytelling and ochre painting. There is even an opportunity for both adults and children to learn the Aboriginal Hokey Pokey. As part of a community, we wanted to see if we can do small things to boost up the morale around us and cheer up the kids. Rowen Street Kinder would like to request parents to place teddy bears, rainbows, unicorns or anything fun outside their windows for people to spot while going out on walks. 04.01.2022 We create lots of different play activities that encourage imaginative play. This area has been used as a mermaid beach, a pirate treasure hunt or a resting place for turtles. Its wonderful to see how differently children view the same objects.

02.01.2022 TRIVIA NIGHT NEWS We had a great attendance at the recent RSK annual Trivia Night. Everyone put in a great effort to get into the spirit, dressing up according to their tables letter. The Police and Prisoners were notable mention as best dressed table! The winning table, Superheros were unstoppable (pictured)! $2500 was raised for the Kindergarten! Thank you to all who joined in the fun and a massive thank you to those who spent time organising this successful event.

02.01.2022 Look what fun the 4 yr old children have been having at Rowen St Kinder! Build-A-Bug! Children were given an array of shapes to work with and pictures of real life bugs to refer to. Through discussion with the teachers the children created replicas of bugs. Fun AND educational!

01.01.2022 Reminder: March 9th is a public holiday and so Rowen Street Kinder will be closed. Term 1 is almost coming to an end! Can you believe it? Term 1 started with the children being introduced to new routines, friends and teachers. Once they settled in they were engaged with a variety of activities, both indoors and outdoors.... Every activity is planned carefully by the teachers with a goal to increase team work, self-confidence, inquisitiveness, imagination, creativity, and motor skills. The children are exposed to a variety of tasks, songs, creative play, and quiet time. Here are some photos of the indoor activities the children enjoyed this term.
