25.01.2022 R/L C News Aug 2020.

24.01.2022 Original Wiggle Greg Sings a song about ROWVILLE.

24.01.2022 Our monthly General Meeting has been ‘virtual’ for the past 5 months. This is today’s October GM. Apart from the formalities, there is the opportunity for some cheeky and lighthearted banter. We’re all keen to get back to the shed and interact face to face. #staysafe

22.01.2022 Wednesday 30-09-2020 **************** Don’t Judge Each Day by the Harvest You Reap but by the Seeds that you Plant. Robert Louis Stevenson ... Being Wednesday, it came as no surprise that we saw an uptick in new active case numbers as this has been the trend for much of this second wave. There was nothing from this rise in active cases to be overly concerned about, as it is the rolling 14 day average that is the key indicator of success, and it is tracking in a downward manner, exactly where we need it to be headed. The following of the CHO restrictions continues to yield the results we desperately seek, thanks to the efforts of the majority of people. That’s why today I chose to include a happy bee as the image in my graphic. A single bee cannot make honey. To build a successful hive and make sweet honey is a team effort. So too will it take a team effort to overcome this 2nd wave and rebuild our communities, so that we can all reap sweet success. There were 13 new active cases, four linked to known outbreaks and nine under investigation at the time the CHO report was published. It is worth noting that all of the 7 cases under investigation yesterday were able to be linked to known outbreaks according to the CHO in today’s press conference. Four of these new 13 cases are in the outer east region I report on, one in Greater Dandenong (postcode 3172), two in Monash (2 x postcode 3170) and 1 in Whitehorse (postcode 3128). It is not known at this time, if these are linked to existing workplace outbreaks, or community transmission. For those new to my updates, they are long there is lots of info to share. You can read it all or skip to the areas of specific interest, as I use headings to make it easier to scroll through.. **************** UPDATE RE TODAY’S NUMBERS: 13 new cases of coronavirus since yesterday. 305 - total number of active cases (decrease of 21). Rolling 14 day new case average (metro) 16.4 20,169 cases of coronavirus in Victoria since the start of the pandemic. This is 11 more than yesterday as 2 cases were reclassified. 38 active cases across Knox and the surrounding eight municipalities a decrease of 1 case since yesterday. The region accounts for 12.5% of Victoria’s active cases. The total number of cases across the outer East region I report on increased by 4 cases. The new cases by LGA were Knox (nc / ttl 164), Cardinia (nc / ttl 204), Casey (nc / ttl 1039), Greater Dandenong (+1 / ttl 531), Manningham (nc / ttl 164), Maroondah (nc / ttl 104), Monash (+2 / ttl 323), Whitehorse (+1 / ttl 208), Yarra Ranges (nc/ ttl 252). [ttl = total cases since start of the pandemic] 4272 Mystery cases since the start of the pandemic, one less than yesterday. 17,937 tests were processed over the past 24 hours taking the total number of tests processed to 2,694,959 ******************** THE GOOD NEWS: 10 new cases reported since yesterday. Today’s daily positive test rate is 0.06%. The weekly average positive test result was 0.08%. This is very good news. 94% of people who have had coronavirus have recovered from the infection. (19006 / +28 from yesterday). There is one remaining case linked to Disability Residential Services. This is great news and such a relief that the numbers were able to be contained as well as they were given the vulnerability of these settings. Hospital numbers continue to improve. 44 people in hospital 2 less than yesterday. There are 6 people in ICU (+1), and 3 people are on ventilators (-1). The number of Healthcare workers infected with the virus also is steadily declining, now 46 active cases seven less than yesterday. There were 2 new healthcare worker cases since yesterday, which is a relief to see. There are now 3542 healthcare workers who have been infected with the virus since the start of the pandemic and healthcare related infections account for 15% of all active cases. Aged Care related infections also are showing steady improvement. There are 147 active cases linked to aged care outbreaks, 11 less than yesterday. 48.2% of all Victorian active cases are linked to an aged care outbreak. 73.1% (223) of the current active cases are attributed to transmission from contact with a confirmed source. 22% (67) active cases are currently unknown / mystery cases. There are also 15 active cases under investigation. ************************ THE NOT GOOD NEWS: Four deaths were reported in today’s update, three ladies (1x60’s, 1x80’s, 1x90’s) and one gentleman in his 90’s. One of the deaths occurred prior to yesterday. Two of these deaths were linked to known aged care outbreaks. Each day we hear news of the tragedy of this pandemic and its stealing of lives. We send our sincere condolences to the loved ones of those who had their life shortened because of the pandemic and offer comfort in their time of grief. 632 (79.2%) of Victoria’s coronavirus attributed deaths are also linked to Aged Care outbreaks. ***************** WHAT’S HAPPENING LOCALLY? Numbers across our area decreased by one, there are now 38 active cases across the region. We saw 4 new cases added to our total, 2 in Monash, 1 in Greater Dandenong and 1 for Whitehorse. Greater Dandenong’s active cases actually decreased by 2 as three people recovered offsetting the one new case. Monash has had 4 new cases in the past 48 hours which is something to keep an eye on. There is no detail provided regarding these new cases and whether they are linked to known outbreaks or are mystery cases. I have updated the known hot spot locations in the Local Outbreaks section below which may be of interest. [-3] **************************** DISABILITY SECTOR: In Victoria, there are 1 active cases in residential disability accommodation, one less than yesterday. Total Resident cases: 0 (nc) Total Staff cases: 1 (nc) Active cases in NDIS homes: 1 staff / incl 0 residents Active cases in ‘transfer’ homes (State regulated/funded*): 0 Active cases in state government delivered and funded homes: 0 The total number of individuals receiving disability accommodation/respite services in Victoria is approximately 6,500. ****************** KEY POINTS OF INTEREST TODAY: Strategy is working as can be seen by the rolling 14 day average in new cases diagnosed and total number of cases from an unknown source these are two key metrics the CHO and public health team are concerned about when considering the easing of restrictions. While many see the success of the numbers as a reason to justify a more rapid easing of restrictions, the slow and steady approach is the only option before big steps can be taken in three weeks time. Need to be patient. There was discussion regarding the introduction of additional testing protocols particularly in vital industries. Surveillance testing will be introduced across 95 businesses / 28,000 workers where 25% of staff will be tested each week (100% of staff tested each month) Sewerage testing has found traces of coronavirus in the Anglesea sewer system the public health team are calling for locals to come forward for testing to minimise the risk of community transmission in that regional area. REGIONAL TRAVEL will still be limited for some time yet. YR 7 YR 10 STUDENTS Acknowledgement that there is growing concern for mental health of young people aged 12 to 16. There was reference made to a letter circulating from GP’s in the East re an increase in youth as young as 12 being prescribed anti-depressants in order to cope with the pressures of the pandemic. Both the Premier and CHO expressed concern that this was the case but reiterated that the data / modelling suggests it is not safe to send these age groups back to school as yet. They want to get youth back to school however want to do it safely. OUTDOOR GATHERINGS TWO MUM’s MEETING OUTDOORS, BOTH WITH KIDS. A question was asked whether it was okay for two mum’s each with three children to meet up outdoors for social interaction (within the 5km radius / within the 2 hours). The Premier was swift to advise that NO this is not permitted under the current restrictions. Now is not the time for this The CHO went on to say the limits of 5 maximum were based on what the modelling showed could be an acceptable risk. This needs to be followed until the restrictions are eased in a few weeks time. These were the stand out things for me, Bee kind to yourself and to others, Take care, Nicole. ************************************************************* Testing is a critical help to driving numbers down so it’s extremely important that if people have symptoms, however mild, they get tested. Go home straight after your test and isolate while you wait for the results. Six COVIDSafe principles apply across Victoria. o Wear a face mask or covering when you leave home. o Don't go to work if you feel unwell. o Maintain physical distancing of 1.5 metres. o Cough and sneeze into tissue or your elbow. o Perform good hand hygiene. o Outdoor activities carry less risk than indoor activities. 18.01.2022 I received a call from the local Middys offering to help replenish our stolen cordless tools with Milwaukee products, most of the stolen gear was Milwaukee any...way. During the course of the conversation he mentioned the Milwaukee One Key setup. Its a tracking tag that in association with mobile phones with the One Key app installed, provides location information regarding each device. But theres more than that to One Key. It is possible to remotely lock/deactivate the particular tool so it cant be used! All are things worth considering in theft mitigation & tool inventory management. See more

18.01.2022 Shed progress. Frame is being assembled at Rowville Community Workshop. It wont be long before it actually looks like a Shed.
