10.05.2022 If you are looking for some songs for Christmas, I came across this free download from Getty Music (for those on Facebook). https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=453707976112696&set=a.342828267200668 or the direct link:... https://www.gettymusic.com/christmashymnal I’ve really been enjoying Joy Has Dawned. I am looking at learning it to play at church. What a celebration of joy in the coming of Jesus. I pray these songs bless you as we make our way to Christmas. In Christ, Glen

24.04.2022 The latest sermons from preaching series as we make our way to Christmas have been uploaded to our youtube page (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrH70QzhZpezggfcLfVNPFg) Over the last little while there have been some challenges and changes which have made it difficult to record and upload sermons. But hopefully we are back on track. Following along with the sermons is a great way of staying in touch with you church family even if you are away.... I look forward to being encouraged with you over this Christmas season. Glen

18.04.2022 It has been a great encouragement having church outside over the last few months. The weather has been pleasant and it is a reminder that we sit in God's creation. As the weather is now warming up, and the space for everyone is in the direct sun, we have decided to move church back inside with the blessing of cooling. This will mean that those who are able will need to wear facemasks. We are still able to sing if we have facemasks on.... I look forward to seeing you tomorrow morning. Glen McDonald

05.04.2022 We are live streaming the funeral of Meg Noll tomorrow to support our community who are not able to attend. I will be cleaning the church and setting up for the service this afternoon from 12.45pm if anyone is available to help. Please be praying as we support our community at this time.... Glen

17.03.2022 Saturday night’s have been a great time of fellowship around God’s word an a great time of encouragement. It has been exciting to see people taking the opportunity to come to church when they find it hard to come on Sunday Mornings, even after work. This Saturday is the third Saturday of the Month which means we have church on Saturday night at 6.00pm. This will be instead of our regular Sunday Morning Service. If you arrive late or just for dinner, we are excited to be able... to see you and encourage you. We want a culture of being welcoming and people being comfortable to arrive when they are able to. There is a post on our facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/221415525598699) where you can let us know if you are bringing something to share for dinner after church. If you are coming from work, don’t worry if you cannot bring any food (there is always plenty). I am planning on getting to church early to watch the Rugby Union (Australia v South Africa). Kick off is at 4.00pm (I think). We should just squeeze the match in before church starts. Just no crying when Australia wins. See you on Saturday Glen

10.03.2022 The situation in Afganastan is dire. You can read more in the link below. Please consider donating to the support of the Afghan refugees. You can follow the link below or you can put a contribution in the Red Toolbox on Sunday, simply put your donation in an envelope and label it for the Afghan appeal. https://givinghope.org.au/givingho//givinghope-afghanistan

16.02.2022 It has been so great to be gathering as a church outside over the recent weeks. While the weather is still nice (before it gets too hot), we will continue to have church outside. I hope you have been encouraged as we are able to sing together and meet together without having to wear face masks. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.... Glen McDonald I

30.01.2022 It's Saturday night Church this week @ 6.00pm. This will be followed by a bring a plate meal to share. Even if you are running late from work, don't let that stop you. We would love to welcome you. The idea behind Saturday night church is to enable everyone to be part of the church, even if you are late or only for the meal. Because it is night time, we will be having church inside, so make sure you bring a face mask to abide by Covid 19 regulations.... Our Bishop, John Stead, will be joining us can continuing our series on 1 Samuel. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow night Glen McDonald

24.01.2022 This week we will be starting a new series on the Book of James: "Living Out Your Faith". Over the next 5 weeks we will seek James' wisdom as to how to live as God's people as we wait for God's kingdom to be fully realised when Jesus returns. Don't forget that we are continuing to live stream our church services over Zoom. ... This is a great way to invite a friend to church and check out what we do (you could even log on yourself and sit with them online on your phone while at church). It is also a way for those who struggle to meet in a crowd to still join us and be part of our church family without the anxiety. Follow the link: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/8304249347 The Password is: RDCCC We look forward to seeing you at church Glen McDonald

23.01.2022 It was great to see those who could log on last Sunday. I pray you were encouraged as you gathered with everyone on line. We are looking forward to meeting again tomorrow at 9.30am as we continue our series looking at Matthews Gospel, as we approach Easter. This week we are looking at Matthew 26.17-30. Dont forget that Daylight Savings finishes, so you can have an extra hour sleep in. To log on, follow the link on our web page (roxbychurch.weebly.com). If the link doesnt w...ork, paste https://us04web.zoom.us/j/8304249347 into your web browser. If you are watching on a tab or phone, you might need to download Zoom meeting software before hand and join a meeting with meeting id 8304249347. I will be logging on and getting things ready from about 9.00am, so feel free to log on early if you want to check if things are working. If you have any problems give me a call on 0433 077 330 and I will try and help you. Feel free to invite your friends to join us as well. Please note that we are still trying to work out the best way to continue to encourage our kids during church. We havent come up with a solution yet. The following links are to some kids resources (Colin Buchanan) which will be an encouragement for them while we are sorting childrens ministry out (you can run them on a different device for them). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CC3v2RwKLpM&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqrPAUW_iyw Alternatively, you can find some colouring in pages on the internet which will help them at this time. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. In Christ, Glen

23.01.2022 Yesterday before church I was watching the devastation caused by the bush fires from around Australia. The impact on from these fires is massive. Peoples lives have been changed! The road to recovery for those affected is a long road. Greg Harris, the National Director of Bush Church Aid (BCA) shared this verse which is quite fitting:... Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish. (Psalm 25:16-17) While it may seem beyond imagination for many that there is a road to recovery as they assess the devastation, we have confidence in a God of compassion who has experienced the feelings of devastation and loss first hand: in his Son, Jesus! He is the God who provides a way through the brokenness and heart ache. While we may know this, emotionally, it is hard at times to fathom. Even more so for those directly impacted. A number of us at church were asking the question, how can we help? We are distant from these places. Firstly we can pray to the God who brings comfort. At times this can feel abstract and hard to see the impact of our prayers, but I think we do see these answers as we see communities coming together to support each other. We see Christians in particular showing love and care and grace. We see churches on the forefront of these devastating events. Brad and Joh Henley, also support by BCA as I am, are at Kangaroo Island and are showing pastoral care to many farmers and community members impacted by the fires. They need our prayers as they care for farmers who have lost all the stock to fires with the emotional impact of the events. Secondly, the road to recovery is a long road; Emotionally, Spiritually, physically and financially. A practical way we can care for those affected is financially. Bush Church Aid, with their networks around Australia and within the affected areas are in a good position to offer financial support while enabling many of the emotional and spiritual supports necessary. We are appealing for financial support to be given to Bush Church Aid (into a trust to ensure it is used for the correct uses). You can do this directly if you like by donating (tax deductable) to BCAs Kirkby Trust on the BCA website http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp Alternatively you can give a cash donation at any of our church services or deposit money into our church account and we will ensure that the money goes to BCA. Please ensure you put Fire Appeal as the description for any EFT transfers into our account so that we can make sure your donation goes to this appeal. Our account is: Roxby Downs Christian Community Church BSB: 325-185 Account Number: 01972828 Please do not hesitate to talk to me if you are struggling with these events or if you have any other ideas of support we can provide. For your service in the Lord, Glen

I for one was so proud of all the kids. you can download Zac and my sermon, along with all the other sermons here https://1drv.ms/f/s!Am6GO5YoS2XRaTky1GFjEfmGo1E I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.... 20.01.2022 On Sunday we are starting a series looking at Pauls Letter to the Ephesians. What a way to start the year! Andrew will be starting the series with Ephesians 1, and then we will be working our way through the letter. Dont stress if you miss a week, you can always download it to keep up. Come and join with us over these coming weeks to think about how our eternal identity achieved for us in Christ shapes our lives in the here and now.... Why not get a head start by reading Ephesians for yourself. In Christ, Glen

18.01.2022 New Sermon Series: Through the Darkness - the Book of Job. Over the coming weeks at church we are going to be journeying through the pain of Job, as we travel through the darkness of his suffering and reflect on life and hope through the suffering. Job is a long book (42 Chapters) of many different reflections on the suffering that Job experiences, yet we seek to understand Gods view on suffering through the journey. The sermon series will be a means of traversing these emot...ions and experiences, but it cannot replace actually sitting with the book itself. Can I encourage you to read the book itself. This may stir strong emotions for you, I am happy to talk to you about them, and while the journey we go on may not bring the resolution and understanding (if we can fully understand our suffering) till the end, we need to sit with these emotions to appreciate the greatness of God where we see a way through the darkness. In Christ, Glen

16.01.2022 It is good to be back from Holidays and visiting some of our supporting link churches. Over the next three weeks we are going to be looking at the Book of Nehemiah, a wonderful book of the Old testament, looking to Gods faithfulness in building his kingdom in light of judgement on sin. Yet even though we are left wondering at the end if this is it (at the end of Nehemiah that is), we look to the fulfilment of Gods kingdom brought about through Jesus. This week we will be f...ocusing on Nehemiah Chapter 1, but will think about it in the context of chapters 1 to 7. If you have a chance to read this section it would be helpful. I have attached a helpful overview of Ezra and Nehemiah which may help you understand this particular part of Old Testament History. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkETkRv9tG8 I look forward to seeing you on Sunday Glen

16.01.2022 Come and join us on line to rejoice in the new life that Jesus resurrection assures us of. He is risen indeed!

16.01.2022 A reminder that church this week is tomorrow at 9.00am. we will be getting outside again so we don't need to wear face masks and so we can sing. Bring a hat and a coat if it is cool. Note that our Saturday service this month is next Saturday 21st August (the 3rd Saturday of the month). More info will be posted next week. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow... Glen

15.01.2022 Church is Going Online! We find ourselves in tumultuous times. The recent outbreak of Covid-19 has impacted on our lives in ways that I have never experienced before. The right and loving response, in line with the directives of Government is to maintain separation. For this reason we will not be physically meeting in our church building for the time being; services in the building are suspended until we can safely meet together at the directive of our government.... At this time of isolation, there is no greater need than now to be meeting as Gods church and encouraging each other. We are going online! We will continue to meet as Gods church in our lounge rooms, offices or where ever you have a computer or phone. We are using an app called "Zoom". Follow this link to get started with Zoom - https://us04web.zoom.us/j/8304249347 and enter into our online church building. If you already have Zoom, you can enter the Meeting ID: 8304249347 Church will begin at 9.30am on Sundays, however you can link up before hand. We will have an opportunity before the service to catch up with everyone online and then we will begin our service. We will have bible readings, prayers and I will share a pre recorded sermon. The Sermon will also be kept on our "Roxby Downs Christian Community Church" YouTube Channel. If you would like to talk to me further about our on line church service or if there is anything else we can support you with (a chat, support, or prayer), please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you at church on Sunday Glen McDonald 0433 077 330 [email protected]

14.01.2022 Greetings all! The latest sermons have been uploaded at https://1drv.ms/f/s!Am6GO5YoS2XRaTky1GFjEfmGo1E We are currently in the middle of a two week series looking at Philemon. Last week we looked at this letter from the perspective of Onesimus, and this week we will look at it from the perspective of Philemon (dont worry if you are not sure who they are - the sermons spell it out a bit).... sorry it has taken me so long to get these updated, there has been some technical difficulties I have been trying to fix (and to catch up on things since I was away!) Unfortunately there are a couple of sermons missing due to these technical issues. Hopefully things will be right in the future. Thank you for your patience. Glen

14.01.2022 2020 has been unsettling for much of Australia, with the rise of COVID-19, the suspension of church gatherings, as well as the aftermath of bushfires and the on...going drought. Going The Distance means listening to peoples stories, praying with them and for them, and sharing encouragement from Gods word of the peace and true security we have in Christ. You can help BCA to Go the Distance and spread the good news across the sea, the red dirt and the dry plains, by donating to our mid-year appeal before June 30. https://bit.ly/2xRivS6

14.01.2022 Our Easter Mission in partnership with the team from Holy Trinity Adelaide is postponed. While this is disappointing, it is not without hope. We are looking for alternative times when movement around the state for the team from Holy Trinity will have less of an impact on potential heath risks to our community. We felt that this was the most loving outcome to Roxby Downs. We will continue to proclaim the hope of Jesus at this time as a church community. We are planning on havi...ng our Good Friday Church Service at Lions Park in town, with all Roxby Downs Churches invited. Also, we will celebrate the hope of new life in the resurrection as we join together for Easter Sunday. We will continue to monitor the situation as changes arise and make informed decisions on these services. Let us continue to support each other, holding onto the hope in Jesus despite the impact of this virus. Pray for one another and look for opportunities to express community and the unifying hope in Jesus particularly if the loving thing to do is isolate oneself from our church community for a time. We are in the process of looking at ways to maintain these relationships and to gather as a church (maybe remotely for a time) if restrictions are placed on us (or if people need to self isolate). Please remember to follow good hygiene practices, washing your hands with soap. Maintain a distance of 1.5m from someone who is coughing or sneezing, and please do self isolate as a loving service to others if you are unwell. Please do let us know if you are self isolating so that we can pray for you and support you in any way. Do let us know if you need any supplies from the shops so that we can support you in this time. God is good and will carry us through this trial, as we lift our eyes to him who can deliver us. In Christ, Glen

13.01.2022 It is exciting that we are moving towards having church return to some normality in the church building. This will be a great benefit to our relationships and providing the opportunity to build and encourage each other in our faith. As of today, we are able to have 43 people in the church building based on 1 person per r metres squared. This should mean that we are able to fit in our church building. We may need to move a few things around to ensure we have the space though..., as we do need to maintain physical distancing of 1.5m (this doesnt apply to families). Please note at this stage we will not have Kids Church as the space in the back of church is not large enough to accommodate our childrens ministry. We will continue to have a Childrens spot in the main service. You may like to bring other activities that children can engage with during the service. You might be surprised how much the children pick up from the sermon and other parts of church while they are engaging in other activities. We are not expecting total quiet as we want the children to be part of the church. We will be maintaining an Online presence with Zoom to connect with those who are not able to make it to church physically for many different reasons. This will also enable us to break down some of the barriers which we often create, such as entering into a strange place with people who are unknown. The on line presence will allow people to look in and become comfortable. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Glen McDonald

12.01.2022 Come and watch the AFL Grand Final at church on the big screen Saturday 28th September Game starts at 2.00pm... or come at 1.00pm for a pie before the game - let me know by 9.00am Friday 27th Sept so I can order the pies (subject to availability at Roxby Downs Bakery) - Pies are $5.00 each Why not invite a friend BYO Drinks and Snacks Glen

12.01.2022 Have a sleep in on Sunday, unless you have kids Daylight savings finishes.

12.01.2022 Thanks to the CWCI (Christian Women Communicating International) team for visiting us from Friday to yesterday and encouraging us in our Christian walk. There were womens events on Friday at both Andamooka and Roxby Downs, there was a mens breakfast at Andamooka, and it was great to have the team at our Sunday Morning church service. Steve, the pilot, opened up Gods word to us and challenged us to have our confidence in God and not worldly things. You can find his sermon ...here https://1drv.ms/f/s!Am6GO5YoS2XRaTky1GFjEfmGo1E Thank you Steve, Jill and Sarah for serving us! In Christ, Glen

11.01.2022 Dont forget about the Community Christmas Carols tomorrow night. Come and support our community to celebrate the coming of Jesus.

11.01.2022 I pray that you have found the sermon series on Job a tool helping you to carrying on in your faith through the trying times of life. Life can indeed be challenging! I pray this sermon series has also given you some tools to care for those who are suffering. We are called as Gods family to bear each others burdens, and I think Jobs experiences help us to understand what others might be going through. The sermons will be on our Youtube channel shortly (atleast the audio as ...we are still working out the best way to record video!). I have come across a book, Together through the Storm, which I think will be a great resource for us as we think about how we can best care for each other in times of suffering and grief. I would love to read this book with others if anyone is interested. I know not everyone are readers (I find it hard believe it or not), but reading this book together might enable us who arent good readings to process and learn from those who are. Book details: Together through the storm Author: Sally Sims Preview https://cdn.shopify.com//Together_Through_the_Storm_sample Cost: Between $15.00 and $19.00 Plus freight (depending on how many we purchase) Please let me know if you would like a copy of the book, and if you would like to be part of a group to process and think about this challenging topic of suffering and how to best care for those who are suffering. In Christ, Glen

09.01.2022 Greetings all, I am praying for you today that you would be encouraged in the Lord If you are planning on joining with us on "Zoom", there has now been added the necessity for a password when entering "Zoom"... The Password is: RDCCC I look forward to seeing you shortly Glen

09.01.2022 We welcome our Anglican Bishop to our Sunday services this week as we rejoice in a Confirmation Service, as some youth stand up to declare their faith in the Lord Jesus. Please pray that God will strengthen these youth in their faith as they take ownership of their faith for themselves. Last weeks sermon has also been uploaded. You can download and listen to the sermon yourself at the following address. https://1drv.ms/f/s!Am6GO5YoS2XRaTky1GFjEfmGo1E... you will notice that there are two different sermons on Philemon. The first sermon looks at the letter from the perspective of Onesimus while the second looks at the letter from the perspective of Philemon. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday! For you joy in the Lord, Glen

09.01.2022 The summer editions of BCA publications are out. Why not download and read and pray https://www.facebook.com/97703244751/posts/10158051263394752/

09.01.2022 How great is it that we can gather together again in the church! It is such an encouraging picture of our church family, united through the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. In addition to those who gathered in the church building we also had more meeting with us on line through Zoom. However we gather, we gather as one in Christ!... Gathering together gives us an opportunity to serve each other. I have emailed a draft roster. If you havent received this email (and normally are on the roster), I have either made a mistake and left you off the roster or Ieft you off the email list. Please contact me so I can rectify it. If you are not on the roster and would like to be, please contact me and we can look at how you can serve the church community. With people gathering on line, we need to ensure we care for them, welcome them and support them as we do when we gather in person. If you are passionate about caring for those who gather on line, please contact me so we can discuss how to best care for them and welcome them to church. We have created a new role on the roster "On Line" welcomer to ensure the On Line component of the service is working (and liaise with the Computer people) and also to welcome those who gather on line. This an important way of caring for our community as we move forward. I am excited as we seek to serve God and each other, building up each other in our hope and faith as we look to Jesus. In Christ, Glen

08.01.2022 An exciting new ministry is coming to Roxby Downs Christian Community Church in 2020. We would love for you to pray for this ministry and get involved if you are able to. Beth McDonald would love to hear from you as soon as possible if you would like to be involved in this ministry.

07.01.2022 Don't forget to register if you would like to attend church in person. Follow the link below to register. There are currently 15 spaces available before we fill the government allowed 20 spaces. https://reopen.church/r/CI6Kn9SI... Don't worry if you don't get a spot, you can still join on Zoom. https://us04web.zoom.us/j/8304249347 Meeting password is RDCCC See you tomorrow (I'll be on zoom as I am self isolating). Glen

07.01.2022 Christmas is almost here. It is an exciting time of holding onto the hopes of Gods kingdom coming as we see his king entering the world. While Christmas is a time of hope, it often become a time to get through; a time to endure and we can lose sight of Gods promise of peace. Yesterday we began to reflect on Gods promises as we thought about Gods King coming to establish hope when we often feel disillusioned about life. This a promise with a warning to make Jesus our king... which brings a blessing to all who refuge in Him (you can find the talk on Psalm 2 here with all our other bible talks - https://1drv.ms/f/s!Am6GO5YoS2XRaTky1GFjEfmGo1E ) As we make our way to Christmas we will be looking at the early verses of Matthews Gospel (with a break on the 8th Dec to Celebrate Kids Church as they lead our service). This will prepare us to see the coming of our King to give us hope. We look forward to encouraging you at church this week. In Christ, Glen McDonald

07.01.2022 It would be great to gather as a church in one place, but alas we cant. Until we can, lets keep meeting together on line to encourage each other and hear from the word of God. Church is at 9.30am tomorrow.... There are some benefits from meeting on line *You can come to church in your PJs (you can leave your camera off if you dont want everyone to see them) *It is easy to bring a coffee to church *You dont need to leave the house *You wont get stuck in traffic *You can see everyones faces (and not the back of everyones heads) *You can eat your breakfast at church Even if you just want to check out church, leave your camera and audio off and use the name Anonymous. We would love for you to join us. Follow the link https://us04web.zoom.us/j/8304249347 (there is also a link on our web page - Roxby church.weebly.com) The password to enter church is RDCCC If you already have Zoom on your computer or phone, enter meeting 8304249347 and use password RDCCC. I look forward to seeing you at church. Glen 0433 077 330

06.01.2022 We would like to invite you to come to church on Christmas morning to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

04.01.2022 It seemed strange not being at church now that the church building is open. I was so encouraged however joining on line. Thanks to everyone who served us this morning to enable church to happen. Thanks to Bertram and Zac for the technical support to enable Zoom to run smoothly. I am so grateful that church is all of us serving each other together. I look forward to being back at church next week (assuming I am cleared).... Dont forget to register for church in the building next week. Follow this link: https://reopen.church/r/CI6Kn9SI I hope to see you next week. Glen

02.01.2022 We continue to have restrictions on us as a church. I am grateful that God has blessed our nation in such a way that we are able to endure these restrictions for the good of serving our community. While they continue to be an inconvenience to us, there have also been aspects of the restrictions which God has used to focus us on his blessings to us. I have appreciated the time to reflect in the services to the saving grace that God has revealed to us in His son Jesus. It has m...ade it challenging however to express our relationship as one in Christ when we are not able to sing together or even see each other’s faces. For this reason we are taking church outside this Sunday so that we do not need to wear mask. Meeting outside also enables us to sing if we are able to maintain a 2m separation from other family groups. Please remember to bring a jacket or coat to church if it is a little bit cool to ensure that church remains a comfort while we gather outside. I pray that Sunday will be a blessing to you as we focus on Jesus Christ being our security and hope. If you are able to get to church a few minutes early on Sunday to assist in bring chairs out for others would be a great support as well. In Christ, Glen

01.01.2022 As the Covid 19 restrictions are slowly removed from our society, we are in a position to remove some of the restrictions from Church building As of Sunday 14th June, we will be able to begin meeting together in the church building. We are limited to 20 people however (plus those who are involved with the running of church). In order to maintain this restriction of 20 people, it is necessary to register your attendance in advance. Follow the link https://reopen.church/r/CI6Kn...9SI to register. This will take you through the process to register your interest and make sure that more than 20 people are not registered. There is also a link on our web page to register your attendance at church in person (roxbychurch.weebly.com) We need to be mindful of other people at this time, ensuring that we do not take advantage of attending the church building for church and allow others to also attend. If you make a booking, you can modify your interest if your circumstances change. For those who are not able to attend the building for church, we will continue our Zoom meeting so that you could join in. At this stage it will be the same log in details as we have been using, but this may change as we continue to investigate how best to live stream the church service. We will post any changes as we approach next Sunday. Please note that there are further procedures that we need to follow in order to open up the building. These include cleaning and disinfecting touched surfaces before and after church, good hygiene, and social distancing. If you do have any signs of flu like symptoms, please serve our community by joining church online until you have a medical clearance. While we look forward to meeting again next week, we are still meeting together on line using Zoom tomorrow morning. I look forward to meeting with you tomorrow on line and again next week in person, and I am excited to see God continue to grow us in our faith as we serve one another. For your service in the Lord, Glen McDonald 0433 077 330
