23.01.2022 This is a sad, sobering message but one that has to be told - Six Tasmanian men lost their life in the past year due to drowning; six important, loved members of our community; fathers, sons, husbands, workmates, team members. Our President, Pene Snashall, joined forces today with Surf Lifesaving Tas to launch the national drowning report and send a strong reminder to everyone to keep an eye on your mates around water. Don't take risks around water, don't overestimate your ...skill or fitness level, don't mix alcohol with water activities, and invest in CPR lessons. You might save a life and it could be your own. https://www.royallifesaving.com.au//resea/drowning-reports

16.01.2022 The troops on Flinders Island are now fully versed in CPR, first aid & lifesaving training. Our terrific trainer Ceri Weeks recently put them through their paces. Well done to all.

15.01.2022 We know the weather is set to turn, but it will get warm again and the portable pools will be dusted off and our local beaches and rivers will be lovely places to cool down. PLEASE parents and carers, keep an eye on your little ones. A few seconds distraction is all it takes for a child to drown.

14.01.2022 All hands on board at the annual "Seafarers' Festival". Plenty of CPR for the very young and not so old. Loving the shot of the lovely family and their "Keep Watch" wrist bands.

14.01.2022 Training is completed...for the year, at least! Successful Bronze Medallion course held at Clarence Aquatic Centre. Our trainers, Anne and Denise (just two among our fabulous staff) can take a breather and get ready for an action packed 2019. Thank you to all our trainers for the professional support you provide to our clients.

12.01.2022 While Tassie recorded a 60% reduction in drowning deaths, we still remember the four loved ones who drowned last year; friends, colleagues, team-mates. Let's make sure their deaths are not in vain. Learning swimming and lifesaving skills, leave the beer for when you're safely back on shore, wear a lifejacket when out on the water and Keep Watch over little ones.

11.01.2022 Royal Life Saving - Tasmania "Odd Sock Appeal" received a bag of children's socks from Nan Di and Ellie. These socks will assist injured animals in the devastated areas on the New South Wales South Coast in their recovery. Thank you Ellie for your kind donation, there are going to be some pretty colorful Koalas and other animals enjoying the warmth and comfort of your socks.

09.01.2022 Students beware! Department of Education PE teachers from around the state recently completed Swim Teacher Rescue updates. They are now prepped and ready to put their students through their paces! The dedication and enthusiasm from these educators is to be admired. Well done all.

08.01.2022 Congrats to the Prep, Grade 1 and 2 students of Herdsman's Cove Primary who have just completed the first week of their two-week Swim & Survive Program. Well done little ones and a big thank you to staff at Clarence YMCA.

02.01.2022 It's not all training, CPR and pool decks for us; sometimes we get out of our bathers and into good clothes to celebrate the achievements of our trainers and volunteers. Our patron, Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania recently presented honours awards including a Commonwealth Life Member to Gary Kearney. Gary has been involved with the Society for more than 45 years, firstly as a competitor in the State Team (as a much younger man - anyone have any embarrassing photos!) right through to his participation over the past decade or so as a member of State Council. His expertise in pool management and aquatic activities is outstanding. We are delighted he received this honour (also pictured here with our State President, Pene Snashall)

01.01.2022 Thanks to Andy from St Johns Ambulance 50 of our "Keep Watch Ducks" together with 80 Laurie Lawrence's "Kids Alive" Water Safety Packs will be delivered to children at the Huon Valley Evacuation Centre. Stay Safe Everyone!

01.01.2022 It was a "Right Royal Occasion" today at the Royal Hobart Regatta. Royal Life Saving Tasmania joined forces with the Royal Hobart Regatta Association to deliver a range of educational programs; Inland Waterway, Respect the River and Keep Watch Information to families. Everyone from tiny tots to grandparents were keen for information! Good to have these conversations about aquatic safety.
