24.01.2022 Tinker Bell Book Week 2020 Ruby’s current favourite colour is green so a Tinker Bell dress seemed like the perfect choice. ... We choose this gorgeous feeling silky touch rayon that we found on clearance at our local spotlight. It is soooooo amazing and drapey to touch but sooooo slippery and painful to sew. I actually made 2 bodices because the first one didn’t line up probably and I had to improvise on the construction technique so I could sew seems with as little movement as possible between the pieces. The skirt is meant to be a full circle but it also slipped while cutting and created a faux handkerchief hemline which I actually love and suits Tinker Bell. 22.01.2022 I own several pairs of similar RTW joggers but they have absolutely seen better days. One pair is full of little holes so I cut the seams apart and use it to draft my own pattern. After some more length added and some other construction changes I love these better than the original. These have been on high rotation recently. 15.01.2022 Heidi’s tutu was one I’d made a few weeks ago when I tested the pattern for @wildseedspatterns. I had originally made it for Maggie but there is so much time and expense in making each tutu. I didn’t want to make something Heidi would grow out of quickly so with the elastic back panel I upsized all the girls outfits for longevity. 14.01.2022 To finish off the magical theme I made each of the girls their own set of wings. Wings have always been something the girls have loved playing with but I hate the stocking-look store ones that rip within a day. Recently I participated in the Twig + Tale wing sewalong and was absolutely inspired. I learnt lots from my first attempt, changed my interfacing, a few different tips for construction and three pairs of wings later I think I’ve mastered them. 13.01.2022 I think this may be my most favourite make ever!! Yep big call but I loooooove it. I feel in love with McCall’s 7834 last year when @katiekortmanart made the most amazing pink and red version. After some Instagram stalking of #m7834 I feel in love all over again with @mimigstyle purple dress. So I knew I just need my own. Gathers, vintage feminine vibes, pussy bow, flowy, love. I made this dress during lockdown and have worn it out several times already. 13.01.2022 I made this jumper back in May in ISO 1. The fabric was love at first sight, regret that I didn't preorder and relief when I snapped up the last bit of retail. I cut the jumper pieces so carefully to make the most of the fabric I had. (I've still got a tiny bit left over) Between ISO 1 and ISO 2, I decided to try out the matching lounge wear trend that is currently everywhere. I used the Foxy Legs pattern with the go-faster stripe option to incorporate the jumper fabric. I f...olded out a little too much in the legs when adding in the go-faster stripe so that pants are a little tighter than they are meant to be but the stretchiness of the DBP is very forgiving and it is noticeable. The top is an ‘anything but basic' top from DIBY. I could never wear this colour tee on its own but I think it matches the jumper colourings perfectly for a matching but not matching set. I’m now dreaming of a pair of foxy legs with a glitter stripe do I ?!? 10.01.2022 Restrictions eased in Regional Victoria yesterday and many local businesses have opened again for trading. Yesterday I masked up, popped on my party pants and went to lunch and got my eyebrows done. It was so lovely to get out of the house and support other locals. 10.01.2022 I love being involved in pattern testing, seeing the process and collaboration, but my absolute favourite part is release week. So much inspiration! My Miss 7 is too big for dresses these days () but still wants mum made. These long dungarees were the perfect compromise for an on-trend look. These are made from a light cheesecloth as we are currently in an Aussie spring so they can be worn with both long and short sleeves tees making them the perfect tran-seasonal piece. ... 10.01.2022 Last week my oldest babe turned 7. I sewed for myself quite a lot when I was a teenager but with uni, then work life, I rarely sewed when Ruby was born. I was too busy and too tired but a friend introduced me to PDF patterns when she was about 3 years old by inviting me into a pattern group. Wow did that change my life and reignite my passion for sewing. A welcoming group of like minded people and inspirational sewists. My sewing skills have developed soooo much in the last 4 years, I have a ridiculously huge pattern collection, a fabric stash that’s out of control but most importantly some amazing sewer friends who I’ve never meet but love talking and learning from. This year we gave Ruby her first sewing machine. Hopefully one day she loves sewing as much as her mum x

04.01.2022 Yesterday my biggest babe turned 7 and we gave her her very own sewing machine. Yesterday we spent the day learning all about the machine and practiced sewing without a needle. Today we are trying out some work sheets to help her learn to sew straight.

02.01.2022 I’ve been dreaming about this dress since I brought the pattern in 2017 . Initially I was so intimidated by all the pieces that I just kept it as a dreamer. In 2019 I made a canvas version for the teacher dress for a friend and was surprised at how well it went together. I fell even more in love with the dress and its beautiful finishes. I’ve hoarded this dark olive linen nearly as long as I’ve owned the pattern, waiting to become one. We’ve got a 4 day weekend here so it... seems like to perfect time to finally create this dress.
