17.01.2022 In conjunction with DVA and Open Arms Veterans and Families Counselling, we are currently conducting a research study investigating the impacts of moral injury on ex-serving members of Defence. We are contacting a number of organisations and care providers working with ex-serving Defence members and were hoping you may be able to support this study by promoting an online survey. What is the study about? The study aims to develop an outcome measure of moral injury for mili...tary personnel who experience potentially morally injurious events (i.e., experiencing or witnessing acts that conflict with their deeply held moral beliefs, values, and expectations). The moral injury outcome measure will be available to military care providers to better identify and support military personnel. This research is an important step in understanding the impacts of moral injury and whether the impacts of moral injury are distinct from other mental health disordersin particular PTSD and depression. Participants are requested to complete an anonymous online survey. The survey will take 15-20 minutes and asks questions about the consequences of exposure to military events which may have impacted their moral values (e.g., the impact on their identity, relationships, beliefs, or behaviour). Participants will be given the option to provide a very general description of the event they experienced, without specific information such as names, dates, places, but they are not required to provide this information and can continue with the rest of the questions without answering this. This research has been approved by the DDVA HREC (Protocol #273-20) and is part of an international collaboration between Australia, USA, UK, Canada, and the Netherlands. How can you help? It would be greatly appreciated if your organisation could promote the study through any of the following ways: 1. Sharing the attached social media post on your organisation’s social media pages to enable maximum reach. 2. Placing the attached study poster in the waiting rooms or notice boards of your buildings. 3. Sharing the attached letter with clinicians who might be aware of any clients who may be interested in participating. 4. Where appropriate, sharing the direct link to the online survey with any ex-serving Defence personnel: https://is.gd/MIOStudy I have attached the study advertisement materials for you to read if you are interested. If you would like more information or have any questions about promoting the study, please contact us on 1800-290-618 or [email protected] Thank you for your time and support. See more

15.01.2022 We have had a report that there have been a couple of large dogs running unleashed in and near Max Harris Memorial Reserve over recent days. These dogs create concern for pet owners walking the area, as the unleashed dogs become aggressive towards other dogs and people. If you see the dogs and know the owners please let them know, or contact the council dog control officer. Thank you

08.01.2022 The memorabilia display at the RSL Sub Branch is closed Thursday and Friday due to upgrade of features of the display. This has been funded by a successful Grant application earlier in the year. Thanks to everyone and we appreciate the inconvenience of the short notice of the closure. Members of the Board of Management and volunteers will be assisting to get the renovations completed quickly. Happy Hour and Farmers Market will still go ahead as usual. ... Thanks for your patience during this time. Board of Management. See more
