24.01.2022 The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of World War I. Over the past century, this moment has been adopted across the globe as a time to remember those who served and sacrificed in all wars and conflicts. Thank you for joining the live stream of our Remembrance Day service at The Shrine of Remembrance in Brisbane. Lest we forget.

22.01.2022 The impact of the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force’s (IGADF) Afghanistan Inquiry report has been felt across Australia’s Defence and veteran communities. RSL Queensland stands shoulder to shoulder with Queensland’s Defence family to ensure a bright future and enduring legacy for all veterans and their families and will continue to support all Defence personnel during this time. 22.01.2022 At 11am on 11 November, the guns fell silent on the Western front after four years of bloodshed. That moment became associated with the remembrance of those who had lost their lives in conflict - initially, in the 'war to end all wars' but eventually in all wars and conflicts from that day to this.

18.01.2022 Our Sub Branches certainly find unique ways to raise funds to support the Defence community! Members of Laidley RSL Sub Branch are turning trash into treasure, thanks to a grant from the Queensland Government. The Sub Branch received $10,000 for a custom built Containers for Change trailer, which recycles bottles and cans.... The group will take the trailer to markets, sporting events and festivals to collect containers.

18.01.2022 By putting our IT capability at the service of our Sub Branches, we're freeing up volunteers' time for what matters - looking after veterans in their local area. Centenary Suburbs RSL Sub Branch - one of the Sub Branches in the pilot group for the Managed IT Services project - spoke to us about what this means to them.

14.01.2022 Representatives of the Defence community gathered to mark the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month at the Shrine of Remembrance yesterday.

12.01.2022 Can you imagine spending almost 350 hours crocheting 2,060 poppies? That takes a lot of love and dedication! That's exactly what war widow Margaret Standfast did for a display in a Townsville shopping centre in honour of Remembrance Day. Margaret, a member of the Townsville RSL Women’s Auxiliary, worked on the project for 5.5 hours every day for nine weeks! ... Her poppies were added to a long red dress made by a local dressmaker, creating a spectacular train, and others were included on other displays provided by local schools and organisations. We applaud your handiwork Margaret!

11.01.2022 Remember to Remember tomorrow! Wherever you are, you can watch the official Remembrance Day ceremony from the Shrine of Remembrance in Brisbane’s ANZAC Square - we'll be streaming it live right here from 10:15am.

09.01.2022 The IGADF Afghanistan Inquiry report has caused shockwaves across our community, and we know some veterans may be struggling as a result. RSL Queensland is here for any current or ex-serving ADF member who needs help. We encourage you to reach out to us, or our sister organisation Mates4Mates. And if you’re in crisis, don’t forget about the many counselling services that are there to help you, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

06.01.2022 For the first time in RSL Queensland's 104-year-history, the organisation held a technology-enabled Annual General Meeting. Delegates from the five Districts in South East Queensland met in Brisbane, while delegates from the other five districts met in the regional hubs of Bundaberg, Cairns, Mackay, Toowoomba and Townsville. All six locations were then linked in real time through technological wizardry.

02.01.2022 The poignant words of The Ode of Remembrance will be heard around Australia today as we commemorate Remembrance Day. In recognition of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific earlier this year, we would like to share a very special reading of The Ode featuring six of our members who all served in WWII. Learn more about why we read The Ode at commemorations at bit.ly/The-Ode

01.01.2022 From 10.20am on 11 November, the 2020 Remembrance Day Ceremony from the Shrine of Remembrance in ANZAC Square, Brisbane will be streamed live right here on our Facebook page. Although this year's ceremony will be invitation-only, the live stream means you will be able to watch the entire ceremony in real time, from wherever you are in Queensland.
