25.01.2022 Rtb 60mm Shaker colour range

23.01.2022 A bit of colour

22.01.2022 I love the subtle, natural colours Ray Broughton of RTBroughton Lures is coming up with now, especially in his little models aimed at bream, bass, trout, perch ...and the like. He always was a brilliant lure maker but now that he's gone back to timber I reckon his product is even better. Jump on the Facebook page for a better look and message him if you want some. He sells direct. See more

17.01.2022 Adding some colour to the Movers today

14.01.2022 Always nice to get back on the tools after a short layoff. The bream were far from easy this morning, but eventually I was able to pin half a dozen. No monsters..., but catching them in ultra-skinny water on a hard body is always special, with so much of the action being visual. That baby RTBroughton Lures Shimmey did the job for me yet again. I love how I can fish this subtle, quiet little lure anywhere from a few centimeters to a metre down, just depending on rod angles, retrieve speed and the frequency and length of those all-important pauses. Timber body and no rattles also means it touches down softly and then looks like something trying to sneak away. You know you’re getting it exactly right when the tell-tale bow waves in the shallows head towards your lure rather than away from it! Nekkminit... CRUNCH! See more

14.01.2022 So nice to get back onto the bank and do some bush bashing for bream Scrabbling under logs in the dirt and leaves, crawling on hands and knees, underarm lobs, ...flicks and bow-and-arrow casts, and close-quarters, short-line battles with strong fish in gnarly cover on near-locked drags. I grew up doing this stuff and it still brings out the big kid in me every single time. The knees might not be as flexible as they once were, but it’s amazing the spots an old body can wriggle into when there’s a deep, dark snag pile beckoning. Once again, my weapon of choice in the lure department was a little timber Shimmey from the workbench of RTBroughton Lures. Perfect running depth for skinny water, just the right rise rate on the all-important pause and barely a plink on delivery into a tight spot. Exactly what the doctor ordered for this caper! I’ve lost count of the bream this well-chewed one has nailed, and it’s nearly ready for the honour wall, I reckon But knowing me I’ll probably send it into harm’s way once too often and it’ll end up suffering the fate of most good lures: MIA behind enemy lines. 11.01.2022 If you ask for it, he will build it! Following all the interest in my recent post of an archival shot of the old RTB Legend Minnow in that deadly reverse-counte...rshaded Sunset pattern (second pic here), Ray has been hard at work incorporating this killer colour into his new, timber bodied line-up. How deadly is that?! See more and find out how to get them on his RTBroughton Lures page on Facebook... I’m ordering a bunch right now! See more

11.01.2022 Ray Broughton (one of the legends of Australian timber lure making) recently got in touch and sent me some of his RTBroughton Lures. It didn’t take too long bef...ore a rod was buckled over. Here’s a nice one I caught long lining one of Ray’s ’Mover’ hardbodies in a custom colour. Sweet! #AustralianBass See more

11.01.2022 Ray Broughton's Shimmey lures were pretty amazing fish-catchers when they first came out a quarter of a century ago in plastic, but his new timber version has m...ade a great thing even better! With their integrated bibs, they're super tough, and they don't easily go out of tune. The Shimmey's wriggling, rolling action appeals to so many species in both fresh and salt water and Ray's new colour schemes are brilliant. You can buy them from him direct via his RTBroughton Lures page on Facebook, but in a couple of hours we'll also be telling you how you can get one for FREE as part of a rather cool offer! To be a among the very first to get a heads-up on that deal, you'll need to be a subscriber to our free "Fishotopian" newsletter. 09.01.2022 The Mover deep diver

09.01.2022 Until today it had been far too long since I’d had a decent session on fired-up estuary perch on little hard bodies, especially in the middle of the day! SO muc...h fun! Lure placement was absolutely critical, as they refused to come out of their snags even half a metre. But get it right and it was crank, crank, pause, twitch, twitch... BANG! Hang on! Got stitched up several times. Every fish was on one of Ray Broughton’s little RTBroughton Lures Shimmeys... until a particularly solid EP decided it needed the lure more than me and took it home for keeps! Felt it pull out of the fish way back in the sticks, but there was no way I could thread it back through the maze. At least it died in the line of duty! I’m so loving these little lures of Ray’s! Something extra deadly about timber lures, I reckon. #rtbroughtonlures See more

07.01.2022 These Baby Shimmeys of Ray Broughton’s really seem to push the ol’ bream’s buttons! Probably doesn’t hurt that they’ve never seen one before, but the relative s...ilence and slow-rise buoyancy of genuine timber sure doesn’t hurt, either. In a world full of plastic it’s rather satisfying to fool a fish on a chip of wood... especially one shaped and painted by a genuine craftsman. If you’re keen to give one a go, Ray’s selling them direct from his RTBroughton Lures page on Facebook. Check them out... This one is the 50mm version and he’s got them right up to magnum barra sizes. Great to see an Aussie battler and genuinely nice guy getting back into lure making with style and flair. Well played... 07.01.2022 The colours of bream are almost impossible to describe in words. Like snowflakes, no two are exactly alike.... A bit like Ray Broughton’s beautifully crafted and hand-painted RTBroughton Lures timber creations. The two seem to go well together.

06.01.2022 Happy New Year from RTB at beautiful Bargara Qld

06.01.2022 Who else watched this classic video so many times they nearly wore it out? Ray Broughton was way ahead of the game in those days and his lures were the go-to ...choice for many serious cod chasers (although none of them ever said go-to back then ). So damn good to see him back into lure making and now in timber! He still has the magic touch. Make sure to like his RTBroughton Lures page on Facebook and check out his new crop of wooden classics.
