This year the young and mature women of the Illawarra are going to take this opportunity to meet, march, declare and celebrate our gorgeous right to feel safe engaging in the life after dark. And it’s different this year, because we are doing it after dark! If feeling safe at night as you go about your life, is something you value and believe in, come join us from 5.30pm at the Lighthouse. Walk with us from the Lighthouse and we will do the loop back to Lighthouse where there will be speakers, food, music and more. Let’s share how to keep each other safe.

03.01.2022 Introducing our guest speaker for Reclaim The Night Wollongong 31st October... LINDA BURNEY! Linda has a long held commitment to the prevention of domestic and family violence, and has detailed publicly her personal experience with it. ... Linda Burney was elected federal member for Barton in 2016, following a 13 year career in the NSW Parliament as Member for Canterbury. During her state political career she served as minister in a number of senior portfolios including as Minister for Community Services and later as Deputy Leader of the Opposition. Following her election to the Federal House of Representatives she was immediately appointed as Shadow Minister for Human Services. Recently, she was appointed Shadow Minister for Preventing Family Violence. As a proud member of the Wiradjuri nation, Linda was the first Aboriginal person to be elected to the NSW Parliament and the first Aboriginal woman to serve in the Australian House of Representatives. Linda’s commitment to Indigenous issues spans more than 30 years.
