25.01.2022 This week's RTRFM feature album is Theo Parrish's 'Wuddaji.' Legendary Detroit producer and DJ Theo Parrish returns with his sixth album and first full length since 2014, with the deep, jazzy, soulful 'Wuddaji.' Influenced by the improvisatory nature of jazz, Parrish brings an element of experimentation and a certain live feel that is often lacking from dance music. With an average track length of around 8 minutes, Parrish truly lets his compositions breathe and evolve as the play out, perhaps best displayed on 'Purple Angry Birds' - a 10 minute percussive workout of skipping drums that introduces jazz piano chords in the track's last minute and a half. An exercise in deepness, 'Wuddaji' further solidifies Parrish's dance music royalty status.

19.01.2022 This week's RTRFM local feature album is 'Deprogram' from Nerve Quakes. Following up their acclaimed 2017 debut album are Nerve Quakes, back with their intense and foreboding sophomore release, 'Deprogram.' Building on the unique blend of gothic new-wave meets post-punk sounds we’ve come to love, 'Deprogram' sees Nerve Quakes fuse blasting drums with heavy, catchy guitar riffs, shimmering synths and soaring vocals, all with an undeniably Australian twist. Exploring social and historical constructs with a healthy dash of emotion, 'Deprogram' is the perfect album to do just that - tune in, turn it up and 'Deprogram.'

19.01.2022 This week's RTRFM feature is Rachael Dease's 'Hymn for End Times.' 10 years on from winning WAM awards for both best pop song with her band Schvendes as well as experimental song of the year as a solo artist, local composer, vocalist, musician and audio engineer Raceael Dease returns with her striking debut solo full-length album, 'Hymns for End Times'. Inspired by visions of the empty Swan River during COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, the album is as grandiose as the most epic of film scores, steeped in experimental ambient, modern orchestral and neo-classical compositions, with a myriad of striking strings and subtle passages of keys laying the foundation for the star of the album - Dease’s commanding, ethereal, extraordinary voice. Both melancholic and hopeful, 'Hymns for End Times' is as beautiful and majestic as the name implies.

04.01.2022 This week's local feature album is 'The Nomenclature of Kites' from Target Archery. Returning with his second album as Target Archery is Ambrose Nock, with the irresistible new album, 'The Nomenclature of Kites.' Initially emerging from the remains of local favourite Apricot Rail, Nock has now forged his own path as Target Archery, fusing elements of instrumental post-rock and alt-folk with plenty of indie-pop sensibilities, as lyrically the record details the journey of "Mad Mike" Hughes, a 'flat-earther' who built his own rocket ship. Written and recorded in the WA wheatbelt, the album carries a sense of peace and space, as countless melodies and spiralling instrumental passages wash over your ears.
