The Shiraz colour is half way between maroon and purple and can look elegant with black or navy or really fun with pink or yellow for some contrast. 19.01.2022 The thing that makes or breaks a jumpsuit is the fit. I based the torso on the much loved Nina Dress and worked with an experienced Patternmaker to get the pants and proportions perfecto. Its tailored but not tight, can be dressed up or down and theres no awkward crotch dramas to be wary of! Every market I do its the first ting to sell out because so many women cant believe theyve finally found a jumpsuit that fits so well! Im wearing a 12-14 here and have a bigger bust and a flat bum and the gorgeous @libby.winberg is wearing 8-10 and has a small bust and juicy toosh. We both feel fab in it, testament to the effort taken to make it work on different body shapes. Each vintage fabric has its own charm and variation in weight, drape and texture, some are in mint condition and others are pre-loved. Im forever hunting, always adding to my stash and cutting into it, such a long term investment and much more nerve racking to make with compared to when I buy a roll of new fabric! 14.01.2022 I have a lot of clothes. By a lot, I really mean A LOT. So to have something on high rotation means it really is a genuine fave! Ive worn my Splice Pinafore over and over with a tee and sneakers, with leggings, gum boots and a big coat to freezing morning soccer games and now that Spring is here Ill wear it simply as a dress because the clever cut means it still looks lovely sans layers. 12.01.2022 Coco Dresses in this gorgeous jet black now back in stock! Sizes 14-16 and 16-18 went so fast last round and Ive also introduced a 6-8 this time. Its made from cotton with a touch of spandex in it, which adds stretch and comfort and it has a slightly fancy sheen to it too!... 12.01.2022 Always on a quest to use up all my fabric scraps, Ive been tinkering away with this idea for ages now and its so exciting to see these cute knickers finally come to fruition! So much sampling, wearing, tweaking the design and visiting my lovely Patternmaker has all been worth it and I cant wait to get these online for you all. I usually get to try out new designs at markets so my pool of testers is smaller than usual, but reports of love are coming in! People keep telling me to make face masks because they are such a great use of scraps but there are lots of awesome people already doing that and definitely no one making anything like these! Ive been saving and sorting my remnants since day dot and using vintage fabrics is a great starting point for resourcefulness. Beyond that, I always consider how to maximise use and minimise waste in the design and pattern making... process rather than post production use being an after thought. 02.01.2022 Vintage fabric rainbow joy! New followers might not know why I have such a passion for these fabrics, so maybe I should explain why they are so special. For starters it’s the aesthetic and quality of a past era and how evocative they can be of special times, places and people in our lives and collective memories. ... They are usually found as cut fabric lengths or bedding, saved from someone’s collection and I enjoy transforming them with a new life rather than languishing on a shelf, or worse heading to landfill. But probably most importantly for me, is the delight in knowing that the garment is truly unique, once that fabric is used that’s it, there’s no replicating it! Making this way is so time consuming, constantly hunting, washing, sorting and storing that goes beyond collecting and borders into obsession! It’s getting harder to get good quality and more expensive and competitive to buy these days but I hope my dedication and enthusiasm shine through to brings a woman much happiness every time she wears it!
