14.01.2022 We were excited and a little nervous of our trip to Cambodia and the start of the cruise down the Mekong. We had heard mixed reviews from clients, but we were excited non the less, particularly joining the Scenic Spirit in Siem Reap. Our flight was smooth and we landed in Singapore, so clean, so organised and caught a taxi to the first hotel of the trip, Six Senses Duxton. A lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Chinatown. Service here was amazing. Rooms are small but very ac...Continue reading

02.01.2022 We were excited to go back to one of our favourite places Queenstown, New Zealand, to experience a luxury stay at The Lindis, which opened November 2018. Our first night was spent in Queenstown at the St Moritz hotel. A little tired, but very clean. It does however, need to update its wine list in the bar as it was very average and didn’t have one of the few choices that we would have liked.... We started our two and a half hour drive the next morning after breakfast, leaving around 9am. It’s an amazing and beautiful drive through the gorges and snow capped mountains towards our destination. We stopped at a quaint little town called Tarras to have coffee and a home made scone at the cafe in the merino shop. You also get a chance to see the museum dedicated to ‘Shrek’ who was a sheep that had an abundance of fleece after not being shorn for 5 years! The drive into Lindis was quite special, even with the rain. The ability of this building to camouflage seamlessly into its surroundings is a credit to the owner and the architect. Looking out across the Ahuriri Valley from any aspect of the building is a sight to behold. It’s like a perfect postcard. The dramatic backdrop of the mountains contribute to the beauty of this lodge. The interior is a blend of natural rock and timber, well matched wth furniture and artworks. Our bedroom was impeccably styled, comfortable and superb views. The peace and tranquility of this place continues throughout the complex. It’s peaceful, quiet and totally inviting. We did one of the nature walks along the river. The Lindis offers many experiences, from helicopter flights, gliding, horse trekking, fly fishing, buggy tours, just to name a few! Our few criticisms would be : We arrived around lunchtime and we were offered a menu. It wasn’t until the next day when we received the lunch menu that we realised it wasn’t included. This should have been explained on arrival. Other Lodges we have stayed in have included drinks. We think the Lindis should maybe showcase some of the local wines by including them in a package, then people can purchase some of the premium wines. Maybe offer people an E-Bike or just a normal bike complimentary. The Lindis is well worth the trip to NZ. It really does take your breath away. The staff are friendly and very hospitable. Happy Travels! Ruby Slipper Team
