25.01.2022 Just thought that we would let you know that the team from Ruby Fire Brigade have been busy over the past few weeks. Along with the normal calls to support our local communities, we have had crews supporting the emergency response to East Gippsland. We have had multiple members supporting the fire fighting efforts, working out of the Swan Reach base camp while also having a member volunteering with the Red Cross, currently in Mallacoota.... Thanks to the support from the members who take on extra local responsibilities while we have crews in East Gippsland, to the businesses who support their employees when they respond and especially our families who continue to run our businesses, families and are concerned about our safety while we are often working hard out of phone contact. Keep up the good work and stay safe everyone.

For more information on what you can and can't do during the Fire Danger Period, or on days of Total Fire Ban, visit cfa.vic.gov.au/can Stay safe this summer.

18.01.2022 This morning Ruby Fire Brigade supported Korumburra at a house fire. Unfortunately on arrival the house was fully involved but all occupants had safely evacuated. This is a timely reminder to make sure you have working smoke detectors. ... Brigades worked well to protect neighbouring properties and stop the spread of the fire. Our thoughts are with the young family who lost all their possessions.

04.01.2022 How did you survive Monday's weather? Over the past few days, we have put up some posts that indicated that the fire danger was going to be well above normal for us in the West and South Gippsland forecast district. Lucky for us, we haven't witnessed any significant fire activity locally. You would have seen all the fire activity around our state and especially in East Gippsland. Did it turn out worse than you expected?... If you don't think that this could happen to us, one day you may be wrong. Will you be prepared if it happens? A well thought out and written down fire plan will help you make an educated and informed decision with known trigger points to help keep you, your family, and pets safe. What about if you don't have a fire plan? It's not too late to make one, as there is still a long time before summer ends. Visit the CFA website, as there is lots of helpful information to help you create a fire plan or update your current one. Otherwise if you are a local resident of Ruby, Kardella, Arawata or the surrounding areas, please send us a message if you need a hand in preparing your fire plan. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare

03.01.2022 TOTAL FIRE BAN 30/12/19 Today 30/12/19 we have crews on hightened alert ready to respond to any incidents in our local community. Our tanker has been responded to assist with fire fighting efforts in East Gippsland, don't worry though. If a fire starts and takes hold, it will be uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast moving. What should I do? Consider staying with your property only if you are prepared to the highest level.
