25.01.2022 Another sparkle to the night came from Saras shoes. What a flasher. She really impressed fellow-mezzo Gail with her flashiness.

25.01.2022 Our own Jen Martin-Ritchie is on this trip!

25.01.2022 Congratulations to Tianyi Lu on recently being announced as the winner of the 11th Guido Cantelli International Conducting Award in Italy. Previously MSOs Cyb...ec Assistant Conductor, Tianyi would be a familiar face to many people in Melbourne and while were thrilled to see her conquering Europe, we eagerly await the day she returns to Australia and joins us on stage again! 24.01.2022 Hey Wonderful Women of Cloud9 - check this out!

24.01.2022 Tonight we sang togethera bit weird but it was so good to see everyone again.

24.01.2022 Music is gym for the brain, says Cloud9 singer Anne Woodward in her insight just published Surrey Hills Neighbourhood News. Have a read and if youd like to treat yourself, come and join us on a Thursday evening at our rehearsal venue in North Balwyn. For how to join, go to our website: www.cloud9womenschoir.com

22.01.2022 Folks, listen to this and compare/contrast with our upcoming concert

22.01.2022 Hi Warm Me Uppers! Well it has been quite some time since we wrote a blog but we suddenly have quite a bit of time on our hands. Suddenly being a musical direct...or of a big musical seems a little two weeks ago BUT the good news is weve been thinking about how much singing and music making we can all be doing at home and have put together some ideas about how to fill your home with music even if its just you isolating it up for a couple of weeks. 20.01.2022 She is awesome! Please watch and do! I will send each through to our FB page and in email. We are not just connected to our own singing community, but choral singers world wide.

19.01.2022 "The reasons to want more communal singing are not aesthetic or nostalgic. They’re sociological and even biological. Great bodies of research show that singing with other people releases pleasure hormones such as serotonin and oxytocin, the bonding hormone. It can also forge bonds between participants and reduce feelings of loneliness. It’s possible these features are not bonus effects but the reason humans sing at all."

19.01.2022 Wishing all our members and community a very Happy New Year, filled with adventure and beautiful music

19.01.2022 Women of Cloud9, don’t miss this!

18.01.2022 Something I have been researching - the way forward!? Let’s organise it!

18.01.2022 Our Cloud9 soprano missed singing in our concert on 7/12 because she was part of a huge adventure for women in Antarctica. Here are some of her experiences shared on Melbourne radio. Enjoy! Come and join a wonderful group of women like Jen - Sing with us in 2020!

18.01.2022 Its the new year and a new term and we cant wait to start singing again. We begin next Thursday 6th February at our usual venue. Last night altos got together for a catch-up and tomorrow (Saturday 1st) all of Cloud9 will come together for what were loosely calling a note-bashing day. The plan is to go through all the new music for the year that is music written for women by women. The range is mind-boggling when it includes Anne Boleyn (yes, that Anne Boleyn) and Carole ...King. Were looking for new members and a number of newbies are coming tomorrow and next Thursday. 16.01.2022 Women of Cloud9, dont miss this!

16.01.2022 While we cant sing together we can share stories. With a Christmas in July theme and dressed/decorated accordingly we found ourselves sharing our families festive traditions all the while growing our friendships. Special to us all last night was seeing our mezzo Kate and hear her describe how she and her family survived COVID. When we sing as a choir we listen to and support each other; now we are still listening and appreciating what we have in our group of wonderful women of Cloud9.

14.01.2022 An update on choirs and COVID-19

14.01.2022 While we can't get together physically to sing, there are some of us at Cloud9 who are taking up ABC Classic Choir's invitation to sing a special Christmas song with a million others. 'We want to bring Australia together through song, with a new Christmas carol written by composer and Yorta Yorta woman Deborah Cheetham. All the details, and music to download, can be found at our sign up page: https://www.abc.net.au/classic/events/classic-choir/welcome/. '

14.01.2022 Cloud9 sings carols with Boroondara Brass at @Carols at Grace Park this evening. Here we are singing The Coventry Carol arranged by @Michael McGlynn. #michaelmcglynn

12.01.2022 We wish we could all be in the same place to celebrate our beloved accompanist Annabelle tonight. We are so grateful for her many years of exceptional musical talent, patience and good cheer. Well miss Annabelle terribly and are glad to at least be able to honour her at a virtual gathering. Happy retirement Annabelle and thank you for everything

11.01.2022 Wonderful women of song - heres something to keep you singing! Much love and Keep Connected

11.01.2022 "Today, while we face a global crisis, music shows no signs of slowing down, even in forced isolation. Music lies at the very essence of our humanity because it enables the level of social bonding that distinguishes us from other species. From lullabies sung from a parent to their infant, to mass jam sessions online, we can all turn to song to maintain our sanity, our hope, and our empathy toward one another."

09.01.2022 Jess is awesome!

09.01.2022 Look what Jen is doing!

09.01.2022 "A quick scroll through my Facebook feed shows what happens when the world enters a state of social distancing and self-quarantine: people get creative. Pop-up virtual choirs, Facebook Live dance parties, sing-alongs, and memes galore. (Where would we be without memes?)

08.01.2022 What a treat to perform with The Adam Rudegeair Trio yesterday as we presented our Swing into Summer concert. Audience loved our foray into jazz and gospel. Photos show Choral Director Christine and our accompanist Annabelle bringing us all together in rehearsal. So much fun to have drums and bass added to those jazz favourites. Then the audience and the choir tapped along to the music created by the Trio in their guest spot in the program. Such an adventure in music for Cloud9 women as we continue to share in the joy of singing.

08.01.2022 Cloud9s end of year get-together and annual meeting was held last night. A great wrap to the year given by Chair Anne Woodward, who also had the honour to present this years Wiggs Award. This is given to a choir member who has been voted as the most deserving for her contribution to the choir. This years winner is Anna Deakin whose efforts to help us all learn our music and who has stepped up to lead us on a number of occasions was the outstanding Wiggs Person of the Year! Congratulations Anna. Well deserved. We love you for it.

06.01.2022 Can you believe this is how music was written in the time of Elizabeth I in the 16th Century! Cloud9 singers examine some late Medieval to Renaissance music as we begin learning songs written by women for women and will range through the romantic period, to songs of social justice and to modern women. It will be some concert come June.

06.01.2022 Leading carols in Grace Park Hawthorn last week was a perfect opportunity to show of our hats and sunglasses as well as our voices as we carolled along with Boroondara Brass.

05.01.2022 Great to attend the 10th annual Carols at Grace Park hosted by Boroondara Brass and Cloud9 Womens Choir and sponsored by Hawthorn Medical, Parke Lawyers, Melbourne and City of Boroondara

05.01.2022 According to this study, singing can improve your mental health!

04.01.2022 Cloud9 women come together for the joy of singing. That joy has been muted (literally) this year, as required by lockdown restrictions and health advice, but our friendship bonds are strong, and we have all kept in touch throughout the year. We had zooms, when we could even sing together, if muted, to recordings of our favourite songs, and blissfully, by the end of the year we were able to meet in person, in our section groups, outdoors, to enjoy each other’s company, and even sing. We are now looking forward to the New Year. We may not be sure what it will bring, but we are fairly certain there will be much more joyful singing.
