14.01.2022 Make sure to try dried papaya which is a great healthy substitute for lollies when the kids ask for something sweet! Dried papaya is great for kids as they’re packed with high levels of fibre, folic acid and, vitamin A & C! Be sure to make these throughout the school holidays to take along to picnics, or just for an everyday snack! Don’t forget to hit SAVE for later!... INGREDIENTS: 1 papaya (peeled, sliced and cut into small pieces) 1 tsp citric acid 4 cups of water INSTRUCTIONS: To make a batch of dried papayas, wash and peel the papaya. Slice it in half and scoop out the seeds. Cut the fruit into thin pieces. Now, stir in 1 teaspoon of citric acid, or 2 tablespoons of citric acid, into a bowl filled with 4 cups of water. To the solution, add the cut papayas and allow the pieces to soak for 10 minutes. In a colander, drain the papaya and after some time lay the slices on a cookie sheet. Cook the papaya pieces at 57C for 8-12 hours. After 12 hours, check the papayas to see if they have properly dried in the way you wanted. If no, then cook it in the oven again for 8-12 hours. Once they are completely dried out, store them in an airtight container. @organic_facts
