16.01.2022 What do your pets mean to you? Think about what pets have meant to you over your lifetime. They provide unconditional love, safety support, laughter, listen to you cry, comfort when you are sick and so much more. For children from Violent homes, pets can often be the Sole Source of these feelings and support. Yet in Australia and around the world most domestic violence shelters dont accept pets ... Safe Pets Safe Families - Keeping people & pets together is working towards changing this See more

04.01.2022 How fitting is this quote right now? As long as we allow family violence to remain in the shadows, it will do just that remain. We must be vigilant. If you see something, please report it. The call you make may save a life. Andrew Campbell I am absolutely shocked and heartbroken that a woman (who has a name Kim RIP) was brutually murdered and was heard, cried out for help and no one called police. What sort of society do we live in? ... I have questioned and thought about this and thought maybe people are desensitized and hear yelling all the time etc so they think its just another "normal " time BUT thats just it- Its not normal and the more we call it out, the more it wont happen. Call out your mate, call out your neighbor, call out your brother or sister, your father or mother... its not normal. If you see or hear something report it. This also goes for animal abuse too, and remember when animals are abused, people are at risk, when people are abused animals are risk. We need cross reporting between RSPCA/DCP & FV units. Things dont have to have a bad outcome, support people in making the right choices earlier- CALL IT OUT! Jennifer Founder/CEO Safe Pets Safe Families

03.01.2022 I think that this is such an important message to share and understand. Victims of domestic violence dont stay because they want to, they stay because they are terrified of the alternative - whatever that may be. One of the wonderful things about Safe Pets Safe Families is that they are able to help with some of those alternatives, the main one being not having to leave your pet behind and allowing people to find the strength to move forward.

01.01.2022 5 more minutes...

01.01.2022 *We need your help to keep helping sick and injured pets!* We've been contacted to help a dog of a DV survivor with a badly injured leg and a dog that was invol...ved in a car accident but unless we get donations into our Vet Emergency Fund, we simply can't which is so heart breaking As most of you know here at Safe Pets Safe Families we have a Vet Crisis Fund that offers no interest loans for urgent vet care to pets of people who are in financial hardship. This fund has helped ease the pain and suffering of hundreds of animals... it's not a hand out, but a hand up and it empowers people to still be responsible for their animals and their care which is so important. The other benefit of the fund is that many pets and people can benefit from the same money being a circular community fund, as we can help someone else with those funds once the vet bill is paid back in full. We've helped in some very urgent and expensive cases lately which means our funds are dangerously low... But how do you say no to an animal suffering? We urgently need donations to ensure we can still help members of the community that need it... We're hoping down get back up to $5000 but anything at all you can contribute would be a great help Just know that your donation will be used and paid back over and over to help an animal that needs urgent care... https://www.paypal.com/donate/
