09.01.2022 Sydney has a new brewpub courtesy of Melbourne craft beer die-hards Mountain Goat, engineering the launch of a new venue in the inner west brewer heartland of N...ewtown. Mountain Goat was one of Victoria’s first craft breweries. It has been creating prized beers at its inner-Melbourne brew pub for more than 20 years, which since 2004 has been at North Street, Richmond. Venturing out of Victoria for the first time, the Melbourne team made the most of the pandemic closure period to make their way into a former furniture warehouse on King Street, which now features a 12-hectolitre brewing system and 12-tap bar, with plenty more room and plans to celebrate beer culture and hospitality. Turning a ripe 23 years old this month and looking to ‘spread the wings’, Newtown was seen as an ideal landing ground due to its embrace of the Goat staples of arts, culture and live music.
