22.01.2022 Today the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) cut the nations official cash rate to a new record low of 1.25%, having kept rates on hold at 1.50% since the last cut in August 2016. RateCity research director, Sally Tindall, said that all eyes now are on mortgage lenders to see whether theyll pass it on to new and existing customers: "This rate cut could provide some much-needed relief to mortgage holders feeling the pinch." 20.01.2022 The Reserve Bank has slashed interest rates to a new record low of 0.5 per cent to reduce the economic impacts of the novel coronavirus. Financial markets had fully priced in another rate cut on Monday after a large jump in the number of COVID-19 infections outside China suggested the economic fallout would be worse than previously anticipated. Reserve Bank governor Philip Lowe said the 25 basis-point cut was necessary to support sustainable growth in the economy.

19.01.2022 The RBA today decided to cut the official cash rate to a new record-low level of 1.0 per cent. Most of Australias economists and industry representatives were expecting a cut, according to comparison website Finder and its panel of respondents, with 68 per cent accurately predicting the move. While moved to its new record low last month (when it moved to 1.25 per cent), the cash rate is now at a new all-time low with anticipation building for a further rate cut later this ye...ar. According to Finders panel, 85 per cent of respondents predict the cash rate to fall in August. Graham Cooke, insights manager at Finder, said that decision to cut the official cash rate for two months in a row was possibly due to Junes cut not being large enough to make a difference. The objective is to lower unemployment, boost wage growth and push inflation back to target. Its clear that one cut isnt enough, Mr Cooke said. Frankly, two cuts might not be either, but its a step in the right direction and its great news for homeowners. Its two down and maybe one or two more to go.

05.01.2022 The Reserve Bank of Australia has cut rates to a record low 0.75 per cent following persistent weakness in the labour market. RBA governor Philip Lowe has repeatedly flagged concerns over excess slack in Australias labour force, which has worsened in recent months despite employment generally ticking upwards. Growing numbers of women and older Australians looking to join the labour force meant unemployment rose to 5.3 per cent in August, even though 34,700 new jobs were add...ed to the economy. The Reserve Bank hopes cutting interest rates will bring down unemployment and lift inflation.

04.01.2022 The Reserve Bank has held off cutting interest rates at its August meeting. The cash rate will remain at 1 per cent for the time being, but its almost certain the Reserve Bank will lower interest rates further in 2019 after cuts in June and July. Tuesdays decision was not a shock. The RBA had hinted that it was going to pause and assess how the economy is tracking over the next few months before cutting again. According to the financial markets, there was only an 8 per cent chance of the RBA cutting rates on Tuesday.

01.01.2022 The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has announced its decision on the official cash rate for September, following market speculation that the central bank will hold interest rates. The RBA has decided to maintain interest rates for the second month in a row, holding the official cash rate at 1.00 per cent. IFM Investors Alex Joiner was not surprised by todays announcement.... The RBA has stated that it would like an accumulation of evidence before it acts again to ease policy. So, it is clear it wants to monitor the data flow, particularly that on the labour market, before it moves again, he said.
