10.01.2022 Today our friends had a busy morning inside before having a quick run and play outside. We started off our morning with a few songs about Chinese dragons and looking at how they are celebrated in the streets. Many of our friends took to the music as they danced around on the mat laughing and smiling. At the table they had the opportunity to create their very own dragon out of cupcake patties. They used colored PVA to stick the patties down wherever they pleased. They got to ...choose which colors they wished to use and where to use it on their paper. In the pool today our friends explored some lucky sensory. The pool was filled with oats, red pasta, gold coins and red glitter. Our friends were provided with different types of scoops and bowls to explore with. They were encouraged to see how many gold coins they could find and practice their sharing with their friends around them. Miss Reannan bought in some old technology for our friends to explore as they have shown an interest in role playing. Our friends took to this right away informing the educators that they are like 'mummy and daddy'. Our friends even informed us that they were watching 'peppa' on the phone. Yesterday a few of our friends informed us that they wanted to play with balls. Many of our friends ask to play with balls and do lots of different games with them. Today we used this to create an opportunity to practice their throwing and catching skills. We bought out velcro mits and some tennis balls for our friends to share. It wasn't long till they were throwing and catching the ball to eachother. Learning outcomes: 1 2.1 3 4 5.1

Today we went through and put them in order to further increase the children’s recognition of each number. As we were stuck inside during the rainy weather this morning, the children got active through music and movement. This encouraged their gross motor skills. Building and playing with cars were also very popular today as the chil...dren worked together to build towers and share the toys around. For afternoon tea, the children enjoyed some yummy pancakes for pancake day. These were served with fresh fruit. Learning outcomes: 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.3, 5.1

07.01.2022 Today in the preschool room we played a game of jenga and helped Miss Chrissie set up the blocks. In order to do this each child waited their turn and they would choose a colour and place it on top of the other blocks. This requires balance and co-ordination skills and problem solving as only 2 sides of the blocks were flat. The children needed to use their visual awareness to hypothesise the correct way to balance each block. This game is a school readiness activity as we f...ollow rules and share turns. For group time we practiced our number counting, days of the week and listened to an iPad story called Fang fangs new year and then we had question time such as what foods did fangs family eat and what did they use eg dumplings, chop sticks. For art we did some painting using red and purple and as cars are of interest we did some car painting. The children would roll the car in the paint then roll it across their paper which leaves wheel markings. Mitchell wanted to talk our preschool friends about his tigers clothes and he told us that he got them off his friend Jackson. This then sparked up a converse about other footy teams. Outcomes: 1.2, 2.2,4.2, 4.3,

06.01.2022 Today our friends enjoyed a busy and messy day looking at Chinese new year and the year of the ox. We started off our day with a song about the ox and a short story telling us about the ox and the rat before heading off to some quiet activities. One of our friends yesterday asked to do come cutting so today we extended on this with some colored pasta cutting. Our friends got their hands messy as they worked on their fine motor skills and cut up the pasta using plastic sciss...ors. Some gold coins were added for good luck and gave our friends the chance to role play. At the table some heart drawing was set up. Our friends used some hearts and markers to create their own designs, patterns, shapes and work on their tracing skills as they copied the outline of the heart. A few of our friends even drew their own hearts inside the heart. As it is the year of the ox, our friends used some paper plates to create their very one ox! Our friends explored the bumpy plates with their paint brushes as they covered it in brown paint. As we painted, the educators used this time to talk about the story of the ox and answer any questions that our friends may of had. Learning outcomes: 1 2.1 3 4 5.1 5.2
