01.05.2022 Given that July saw all but one State and Territory plunged into one form of lockdown or other this month, I concluded that we may all be struggling a little to keep motivated. Maintaining your mojo from one lockdown to the next is challenging. I found Lockdown number 5, albeit short and sharp, the most difficult. Perhaps I struggled because I realised that lockdowns would not be a thing of the past. Lockdowns 6 and 7 could well become a reality. I think back to this time l...ast year when Victoria was experiencing what our poor northern cousins in NSW are going through now and am grateful that we got away with 2 weeks this time around. The trauma of last years stay at home order still sits prominently with most of us as regular lifting and tightening of restrictions remind us that this pandemic is a long way from over. Its OK to feel exhausted. Staying motivated and optimistic can be challenging. Looking after your mental health and wellbeing is critical.... https://www.rusherrogers.com.au/july-rr-recruitment-monthl/ #recruitmentmonthly #melbournelockdown #mentalhealth #wellbeing #motivation
23.04.2022 It’s all a bit of a blur when I think back over the 20/21 FY. This time last year Victorians, specifically those living in greater Melbourne, were 10 days into a second lockdown which would end up maxing out to 111 days. It’s hard to imagine how we all got through it, but we did. I understand however, for some it left its mark triggering all manner of mental health challenges with a minimum 25% increase in call volumes to support services like Lifeline .There was a plethora of timely articles available online providing sage advice on how to cope with those single dwellers and others amongst us suffering the most. #weeklywrap #readmore #june #monthlyupdate
19.04.2022 Recruitment activity continued to boom throughout the month, despite concluding May at a low point for all Victorians, returning to lockdown as we wind down to the end of the Financial Year. Fortunately, the industry sectors that we have been dealing with have not missed a beat, quickly reverting to a total WFH model if a non-essential business’. There are many positives to focus on despite our COVID circumstances. We continue to experience a significant demand for quality ca...ndidates in a market that continues to tighten and the fight for talent really takes hold. Those organisations with a strong positive brand, flexible working policies, and a genuine commitment to employee engagement and talent acquisition strategies will have the pick of the talent while everyone will have to wait in line... 15.04.2022 VICSUPER FEDERAL BUDGET WRAP 2021 Last night's Federal Budget opened with an acknowledgment of the significant work undertaken by many of our members - Australia's front-line workers - nurses and other healthcare professionals, emergency services, and those who support our education and aged care sectors. We would like to join the Treasurer in extending our deepest gratitude to the frontline workers who support our communities by doing good for all. Here are the key changes t...Continue reading
31.03.2022 "Organisations face a candidate market that continues to tighten as high-quality candidates become increasingly selective recognising that this market will allow them to hold out for greater work-life balance working options and higher salaries. 18.03.2022 The first 3 months of the calendar year always flies by and this year was no exception. As we all emerge with confidence, our collective worlds start to resemble a ‘normal’ feel to them. No masks, 100% capacity in offices (accommodating social distancing guidelines) and a vaccine that promises to deliver the peace of mind and confidence that we will have a much better 2021, albeit cautionary. But will things ever return to normal or what we took for granted pre-COVID? Certai...nly not on the work front and I am not alone in this thinking... https://www.rusherrogers.com.au/march-rr-recruitment-month/ #workingfromhome #newnormal #employeewellbeing #companyculture

24.01.2022 Tired of feeling tired? Youre not alone. Week 4 into 6 weeks of enforced lock down, maintaining motivation can be challenging, let alone what will be for many, almost 29 weeks working from home almost exclusively. Calm your farm was one expression a former RR colleague used to spruik all the time pre-COVID. Who knew that it would become the mantra for many. As Calm Moments contributor Sarah Ormes shares with us, it is selfcare that is critical when working from home. Lon...eliness, isolation, missing your colleagues and friends can present us with some challenges that we may not have been prepared for way back in March. Here are a few easy and by now, very familiar ways to help stay the course as we all work towards our September 13 finish line... #selfcare #covid19 #WFH #workingfromhome #motivation #employeecare #melbourne #lockdown
24.01.2022 Just what have we actually learnt from working in isolation? More broadly, living differently, as those things that we all took for granted were temporarily suspended. By the end of June, it will be almost 15 weeks for some... #lockdown #covid19 #reconnect #recruitment
24.01.2022 Feeling a little lost? You must be Victorian. While the rest of the country transitions out of COVID restrictions, Victorians face the prospect of temporary halt to their lifting. Continue to WFH where possible, says the Victorian Premier Dan Andrews, at least until the end of July. Spanner and works spring to mind for all those transitioning their teams back to the office as of the 1st of July... https://www.rusherrogers.com.au/so-what-now/... #covid #backtowork #restrictions #recruitment #melbourne
24.01.2022 With the drift towards a temp and contract lead recovery off the back of a weak permanent market, I thought it timely to re-share an old but timeless blog for all those considering temping. Essentially the principles remain the same. The world of temping can be an exciting one. Whether you want to temp while your ideal permanent role comes up, or you want to experience the variety that multiple temp contracts offer, temping can improve your skills and expand your experience.... With temping and/or contracting dominating the labour market in the short to medium term, what are some of the key things you need to know if you want to be a sought-after temp professional? Take a look at my top 4 must haves if you want to be a Temp Professional.... #tempwork #temporarywork #melbourne #recruitment https://www.rusherrogers.com.au/so-you-want-to-temp-rr-rec/
24.01.2022 Has work as we knew it changed forever? With Premier Andrews hardening his stance on people returning to work, Victorians will continue to WFH where they can, until the end of June. Many of us have been doing so since about the middle of March. That will mean 15 weeks until June 30. So how is that going for all of us? https://www.rusherrogers.com.au/home-or-office-rr-recruitm/... #wfh #covid19 #melbourne #recruitment
22.01.2022 For better or worse, life as we knew it has changed, some say irreversibly. Adapting to our changed circumstances, this COVID-normal, is critical as we recalibrate, reinvent and reset. 09.01.2022 Words and Expressions that you never want to hear again Have you noticed the unprecedented use of the word unprecedented? We have developed a whole new COVID-19 language of terms, phrases and words that have all taken on significant meaning different from the world we remember back in February. They have intruded into everyones day-to-day vernacular. Theres no escaping the language of a pandemic 2020 style. The list goes on. The recruitment sector is no different. 09.01.2022 Cunto cuestan estas castauelas? I know that I am not the only person who decided to learn a language during ISO. This is about as far as I got. I am sure it will come in handy if we ever get to travel overseas again. Like many, I set myself some goals to best use this gift of time while in ISOminus the guilt that I should be doing something else with my time. Learning a language was one. I gardened, I cooked, I read, I started yoga, I re-organised, I exercised, I made... cocktails, I drank those cocktails, I took photos. I reconnected and had time to think. Looking back, as we begin to look forward, I feel a little panic starting to creep in. Have I made the most of this time in ISO? Should I have used my time more proactively? Could I have prepared more for whatever our post-COVID world will look like? Never waste a good crisis is the mantra that I see repeated across social media platforms... #productivity #rusherrogers #isolation #postcovid
08.01.2022 There has never been a better time to get your house in order. From decluttering to reorganizing. 08.01.2022 There is more than a little room for some optimism about now, especially if you are a Victorian. With one week down and (hopefully) only 5 to go, all of us are going to have to dig deep as we continue to work in ISOif we are lucky enough to be working at all. Stage 4 restrictions have meant for many of us not previously working from home, we are now... #stage4 #iso #cheerful #victoria

02.01.2022 Feeling flat? You are not alone. Anyone located within the MM&MS zone have just completed week one of Lockdown 2.0. And guess what? It seems much harder this time around. Reality has kicked in. This virus is with us for the long haul. How do we stop despair from seeping in? Lets look at what we will keep and ditch from Lockdown V1.0 as we settle into V2.0 Without diminishing the seriousness of having to return to lockdown, many of us approached V1.0 with as much optimism as... we could muster. We did not know what impact it would have on us and the prospect of WFH was certainly a novelty, if not something met with relish. We had a different mindset, after-all, we only had to flatten the curve and then things would be back to normal wouldnt they? Our world changed, along with our perspective. This time around with one week down, 5 weeks to go, our collective headspace has realised that this COVID rollercoaster ride may continue for some time. So, what have we learnt from last time?... #covid #lockdown #melbourne #weeklywrap #recruitment
01.01.2022 So, you think you can read people? Take the Quiz and find out... Facial expressions as well as other body language cues are critical in validating or qualifying what is expressed verbally. Now that masks are mandated in MM&MS, together with the clear message to back-off and keep your (1.5M) distance, our ability to read people is somewhat challenged. #newsletter #rusherrogers #recruitment #facialexpressions
