19.01.2022 Its with a heavy heart that I want to inform you. Brenda Goddard one of the original garden members has passed away in hospital after a long illness . Brenda and John were the rock that kept the garden running, often in hot dry weather they would water their own garden plot and everyone elses.... Almost never missed a working bee when her health was better. Brendas eldest daughter Karen Goddard is asking members who were close to support John in what will be a challenging time for him. I will miss you dear Brenda. Rod.

10.01.2022 We had our first garden working bee since the Covid 19 restrictions were put in place 3 months ago. What a wonderful surprise for all our members to see this donation from Yates, a glorious array of seeds, Diapel and Vegetable and Herb spray concentrate - our thanks to Yates for again supporting our Community Gardens. We've maintained everything pretty well over the past few months by running a watering and maintenance roster, and now we are all primed to get on with our winter cropping!

07.01.2022 Peter Adams kindly shared some photos of our group at the Community Garden's Sunday Garden Bee. Our smiles were even bigger than usual thanks to Seasol and their wonderful donation of essential products.... Our seedlings will now go into our new raised garden bed and we are confident of a bumper Queensland winter crop. Seasol will be perfect to strengthen our winter seedlings and PowerFeed will boost them along the way. Our citrus orchard has been pruned, just waiting now for its boost of PowerFeed Fruit and Citrus . Don't be a stranger just drop in and say hello to the members 1st and 3 rd sunday mornings each month.

04.01.2022 Peter Adams sent an update. We had a good Sunday yesterday. It was Rickarts Market Day and we set up a stall just outside the Gardens - featuring our produce of vegies and ornamentals. They sold well, as did our star attraction, the "guess my weight" Melon at $0.50 a try. The lucky Winners guessed to within a few grams of the 18.56Kg correct weight! A special thank you to Redland city council for their support over the years and particularly the recent" Mayor's and Councilo...r's benefit program" this grant has paid for the new raised garden bed along with some much needed storage shelves , tools ,mulch and garden consumables. All of these new assets are helping the garden power ahead. If islanders from any island are keen on gardening or just want to start gardening in a friendly community garden come join us you may well grow vegitables and some new friends.
