24.01.2022 Today is National Police Remembrance Day. We salute all members who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Being a police officer is challenging at the best of times and unfortunately too many have lost their lives whilst on the job, protecting people like you and I.... We acknowledge our police officers and hope that more can be done to prevent the loss of life in our police services, moving into the future. Thank you.

24.01.2022 Did you know that Ipswich City Council is Queensland’s first Small Business Friendly Council? Council has signed on to join the Queensland Government’s Small Business Friendly Charter which will see council strengthen its relationships with small businesses across the city. Ipswich City Council is committed to making it easier for small businesses across the city to do business and access support. Council’s first priority as a Small Business Friendly Council includes a new p...ortal that will be launched on Ipswich City Council’s website making it easier for small business operators to apply to do business with council, find out about permits and to access support and resolve issues. This portal will be launched this month. I understand that small businesses are the backbone of our community and I fully support this initiative. Ipswich City Council has also extended its COVID funding help for small business, with $1,000 able to be accessed from a total available pool of $130,000. In the first round of funding, Ipswich City Council provided $68,000 to small businesses. The majority of Ipswich’s registered businesses are small with less than 20 employees, and Council must do its best to support these people. If you have any questions about Council and small business in Ipswich, please do not hesitate to ask me. 22.01.2022 Ipswich City Council is committed to connecting our city and region. The 25km public transport corridor (I2S) via booming Ripley has been a major focus for the new Ipswich Council and there is further progress in the project. A $1 million funding commitment has been given by the Queensland Government, towards the next stage of the options analysis for the Ipswich to Springfield Central public transport corridor.... The Queensland State Government will now seek a matching co-contribution of $1 million from the Australian Government and $500,000 from Ipswich City Council for the $2.5 million business case. It is vital that we get transport right, especially with the population growth that Ipswich is expecting. Ipswich is the fastest growing local government area in the state, with our population set to rise from 220,000 to 558,000 in the next 20 years. We cannot afford to have clogged up roads and a 2hr commute to Brisbane which is what we will be heading for if action is not taken, now! This funding is a significant step to securing a game-changing transport infrastructure project in South East Queensland. Read more: https://www.ipswichfirst.com.au/ipswich-on-track-for-vital/
