25.01.2022 In this beautiful Spring weather, take the opportunity to tidy up
25.01.2022 With a cold wet weekend ahead here is a friendly reminder Wood Fire Safety. Chimneys and flues should be cleaned annually.... Empty Ashes in to a metal container, and wait until completely COLD to dispose of... Don’t put ashes straight into your compost bin or on the ground near the house. If you vacuum your fire box, wait until it is completely cold, immediately empty the dust collector on the vacuum in to a metal container. Open Wood fires need a fire screen. Keep flammable items 1 metre from the heater. Don’t overload fire places and wood heaters. Extinguish open fires before leaving home or going to sleep.
23.01.2022 With a great weekend coming, if you’re planning on cleaning up around your property, please don’t forget to register your burn off to stop unessential call outs for CFA Volunteers

17.01.2022 Our very own firefighter Max Daye has been participating in the Melbourne Firefighter stair climb for a number of years now. Unfortunately this year it can’t go ahead in its normal format. Instead it is a virtual climb. Max is aiming at climbing 10,000 steps in Rutherglen over the next few weeks. We know times are tough but if you are able to please donate to this great cause. If you see Max out running up steps, give a cheer and some support.

16.01.2022 Today is International Firefighters' Day. It was instituted after the deaths of five firefighters in tragic circumstances in a wildfire at Linton in Victoria, Australia. It is also the feast day of St Florian, the patron saint of firefighters. St Florian was the first known commander of one firefighting squad in the Roman Empire. He lost his life, as well as those of his colleagues, for protecting the same humane ideas which firefighters all over the world share even today. T...oday we remember those firefighters that lost their lives in the line of duty. More information on International Firefighters Day is available by going to www.firefightersday.org

03.01.2022 Winter is the peak time for heater fires, and with people and children indoors during this time, it’s more important than ever to follow some basic fire safety tips. Drying clothes and other items must be kept at least one metre away from all heating. Children must be supervised near all types of heating. Ensure a safe distance is maintained between children and heating. Keep wood and other combustibles at least one metre from a fire. All residents should also have gas heaters inspected and serviced every two years to ensure the safety of loved ones from carbon monoxide poisoning or fire.
