24.01.2022 What does the landscape look like for Australian and NZ clubs to recruit overseas players in 20/21? We do not know officially as yet but there are massive whispers that borders could be shut, or heavily restricted, until at least July 2021. If not longer. So what does this mean for clubs?... 1. Be mindful of this when you are discussing options as a club and then with potential players. 2. If you use an agent, be sure to include a clause in the agreement that means you are only liable for payment when a player arrives AND only after they have played a certain portion of the season. 3. Look to develop juniors. If you do not spend money on hosting an overseas player this season, then potentially look at how this money can be invested into other areas of the club.

14.01.2022 Disappointing... To hear that someone announced that the UK cricket season was to be officially called off when it was later proved factually incorrect is really disappointing. Nothing has been officially announced yet. No doubt this news caused a lot of anger and disappointment.... To later, then say it 'flushed' out some news finally is not taking ownership for causing a lot of noise and not helping the current cricket situation. We are all frustrated, we are all annoyed. All people want to do is play the game they love. And who knows, the season may be called off (fingers crossed we get something in). In saying this, we need to be patient. The world we are living in is not in its normal state. A lot of people have been ill and sadly passed away. We like many businesses have been hit hard by what is happening. Our promise to the cricket community is to be there when everything fires up again. We promise to make the act of recruiting an overseas player as affordable as possible for all clubs.
