24.01.2022 Just a few more random mood shots at Ruwenzori on a mild full moon spring night

23.01.2022 Something rare and truely special at Ruwenzori yesterday, a Koala! The birds were going crazy on the hill, Currawongs, Maggies and Wattle Birds all going ballistic and on investigation there he was. First time weve ever seen one on the mountain and very hopefully not the last.

23.01.2022 Personal invite from Scott to join him at his Mudgee retreat for a weekend of art tution -

22.01.2022 Spring has sprung at Ruwenzori and its looking absolutely gorgeous. Theres still some spots available for November/December, check it out here- https://otr.com.au/

18.01.2022 While summer rolls on with deep red sunsets and less bookings we have tine to advance our maintenance and creative projects. The new roof over the Pullman gets some decorative panels and new King Size bed in the master. Loving the long days up here

18.01.2022 Heres a bit of background to the Ruwenzori name. H M Stanley (of Dr Livingstone, I presume, fame), was born in Wales with the surname of Rowlands. He became an American citizen, journalist and explorer. He spotted the Ruwenzori ranges from afar in mid-1888. A year later... ...he beheld the sight that he had only glimpsed some twelve months before: the perpetual snow on the crests of the Ruwenzori Range, the so-called Mountains of the Moon. The bank of clouds that hangs forever round the upper slopes (the Ruwenzori is one of the wettest ranges in the world), rolled back just long enough for him to see the topmost peaks rising to close on 17,000 feet into the sky, and that was one more landmark he added to the African map. On his return to England, he married the artist, Dorothy Tennant, and settled in his native Wales, buying a house at Furze Hill, near Pirbright. The names Stanley Pool and the Mountains of the Moon were given to a pond and a hillock in the garden. Heres a shot of the mountains with Explorer Chaplin in 1925, remembering that they are situated on the Equator in the heart of Africa. The connection with my little patch north of Mudgee is a story for another occasion, coming soon.

16.01.2022 Three views of our latest project at Ruwenzor, a roof over the 1899 Pullman car. Before, during and last week, 95% finished. It can rain now we have more roof catchment and the old Pullman can get a long overdue makeover. Much cooler in Summer too!

16.01.2022 Lovely rain has transformed the mountain and my trains from what was the worst drought to a flush of green akin to early Spring. Tonight Im enjoying the first outdoor pit fire of the season to top it off. Its looking great and bookings are open for the year ahead so check it out www.stayinatrain.com
