11.01.2022 Now I know this might sound a little different from what you normally hear in class - engage your abdominals, draw your belly inwards, feel the support from your TA!... . . BUT we use those cues DURING EXERCISE for a very SPECIFIC purpose. The rest of the time - you want to SOFTEN your belly! .... . Now Im particularly talking to women here and even more so, the dancers and gymnasts and all women whove felt the need to suck in to make their belly more appealing (thanks society ). . . I was right there with you - still am sometimes! I have to consciously remind myself to let go and soften my stomach. Why? Because engaging your core all the time actually HINDERS normal muscle engagement and movement ESPECIALLY your breathing! You may not even notice it, but if youre engaging your core all the time, youre hindering your diaphragm, messing with your pelvic floor and causing all sorts of imbalance within your beautiful bod. . . 09.01.2022 Consistency is key. . . Is one Pilates class per week enough? No. But, if you incorporate the principles and awareness daily throughout your week then yes, maybe it is. Add in some homework exercises and youre really on your way! .... . You dont have to be perfect. You dont have to make the best choices all day every day BUT you do need to be consistent, you owe yourself that. 1 salad, 1 good thought, 1 good deed, 1 exercise class is not enough to make lasting changes. . .
