25.01.2022 Can regenerative farming improve wellbeing? Jacki Schirmer and Kimberly Brown presented some findings from the Regional Wellbeing Survey at the #boorowalandcare Resilient Farming for Climate Uncertainty Forum. Findings from research so far suggest when it comes to wellbeing - #regenag principles matter more than adopting specific practices. Lots more work though to be done in the space, particularly how #regenag might help in drought resilience.

20.01.2022 It's great to see the ACT Government are launching a wellbeing framework in which they commit not only to measuring quality of life, but to using these measures to guide government investment. The RWS team were amongst the many groups consulted as part of development of the framework, and we look forward to staying involved in future. Hopefully more States and Territories will follow the ACT's lead in coming years!

09.01.2022 Happy International Day of Happiness! Australia is still one of the top ranked 10 countries when it comes to the happiness of its residents - but we've slipped a little in the rankings, according to the latest World Happiness Report (http://worldhappiness.report/ed/2018/). When it comes to actively measuring and monitoring change in our quality of life and wellbeing, we are putting less investment into understanding how quality of life is changing for people living in differe...nt parts of Australia than many of the other countries in the top 10. The Regional Wellbeing Survey team believe wellbeing should be considered as important a measure of society's progress as the economic measures we hear reported on a daily basis. Initiatives like the World Happiness Report are helping to achieve this goal internationally - let's keep working on it in Australia! #InternationalDayofHappiness See more

05.01.2022 Happy International Happiness Day! March 20th was established as the International Day of Happiness by the United Nations in 2012, and recognises that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal. We believe happiness is fundamentally important, and that’s why we started the Regional Wellbeing Survey in 2013. On International Happiness Day, join us in encouraging Australian governments - local, state and national to put wellbeing at the centre of their decision m...aking. By doing so, we can join the growing number of countries and governments who use wellbeing of their residents as their measure of progress from Bhutan with its Gross National Happiness Index to the New Zealand government actively building wellbeing into its budget decisions. We recognise the Australian governments that have already committed to putting wellbeing first, including the South Australian government and recently the ACT government, and call on more to do this. For some great resources on how governments can make happiness and wellbeing central to their decision making, check out the recently released Global Happiness and Well-Being Policy Report at http://www.happinesscouncil.org/report/2019/
