25.01.2022 Congratulations to two of our Year 7 teams and our Year 10 team who made the state finals for the AI for Good Challenge. The challenge involved students developing a concept based on artificial intelligence to solve a real-world problem. Our teams will now present their AI concepts to a panel of Australian leaders in technology and society.
25.01.2022 In response to their study of human rights, our Year 12 Society and Culture students planned and organised a Social Action Lunchtime to raise awareness and funds for a range of initiatives addressing social justice issues. It was so wonderful to see our SAC community contributing to these great causes yesterday and enjoying the many treats on offer!
24.01.2022 Last week, our Year 10 classes travelled to Aldgate for a day of reflection and prayer, focusing on the theme Finding the Sacred Within. The activities of the day involved walking the labyrinth and meditating through creating mandalas, clay sculpturing and knitting. It was a great opportunity for everyone to connect within.
24.01.2022 National Science Week celebrations at SAC have continued this week with lunchtime activities in labs as well classes taking time to explore the Deep Blue foyer display featuring posters from our Year 7 students that were entered in the Oliphant Science Awards.
23.01.2022 Can Drive preparations are in full swing! 1ID and 8MB had a buddy session yesterday to create masks as a part of their can sculpture for Can Drive this Friday with the theme Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. If you would like to make a donation of non-perishable canned food, please leave your donation at the SAC Front Office.
22.01.2022 Our second group of Year 9 students spent the week at Wilpena Pound this week. On their final walking day, 27 brave campers backed up yesterdays walk with a big hike up Mount Ohlssen. What a view!
22.01.2022 Congratulations to the senior rock band Safe 2 Say who were nominated for Song of the Year in the national school rock band competition RockFest. Of all the entries across Australia, Safe 2 Say's song Change My Mind was selected in the top 5. The girls also came 3rd place in the Futures Award and won a brand new digital keyboard for the school! 22.01.2022 A little sneak peek into Masquerade, one of the three shows to be performed by our talented Year 12 Drama students in Week 9! This rendition is a beautiful mini performance about two worlds becoming intertwined!
22.01.2022 Our Year 12 students are in the process of applying for TAFE and University, with individual Career Counselling for them to determine their study preferences and back up plans for 2021. Thank you to Joel from The University of Adelaide for visiting SAC yesterday to provide specific course advice in response to student questions.
22.01.2022 It has been delightful welcoming SAC's newest students and families to the College over the past couple of days at our Primary and Secondary Parent Welcome Mornings and Student Immersion Days. We look forward to reconnecting with these families when they join the SAC community in 2021!
20.01.2022 Year 8 students presenting the final products from their unit on Advertising in English! Students were tasked to create their own chocolate bar brand and some got very creative making show bags with their branded goodies.
20.01.2022 This year our Year 3-6 students were offered the opportunity to sit ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) tests in Digital Technologies, English, Maths and Science to demonstrate integrated and thorough learning using higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills. Congratulations to the students who challenged themselves, we look forward to acknowledging their efforts later in the year!
19.01.2022 Our Year 6 students had an amazing time at Retreat last week. The activities included setting up the liturgy, a Girl Power workshop, meditation, Blackout Poetry and leaf making craft! Reflecting on their past and life journey, the girls learned about each other, shared strategies to turn negative talk into positive talk and took time to understand how different we all are. What a great day for everyone involved.
19.01.2022 Thanks to our Year 8 students from the 'Beanies of Love' group who visited Catherine House last week to donate all the beautiful beanies and scarves lovingly knitted by our school community! The team at Catherine House were incredibly grateful for all the donations, which will be very much appreciated by women who are supported by the organisation. Students learnt a great deal about the fantastic work that Catherine House does within the community.
19.01.2022 As part of their Religious Education unit on World Religions, our Year 6 classes visited both the Shri Ganesha Hindu temple and the Saint Francis Xavier's Catholic Cathedral. The girls enjoyed the colourful, yet calm sacred space of the temple and a very detailed and informative tour of the Cathedral.
18.01.2022 What a great full-camping experience for our first group of Year 9 students last week at Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges. Away from the city, students accomplished climbing to Tanderra Saddle just short of St Mary Peak, sleeping in tents, playing campfire games together and learning bush survival and navigation skills!

15.01.2022 Last week, some of our Primary classes enjoyed a wonderful performance from composer and musician of liturgical music and hymns Michael Mangan. Students and staff loved singing and dancing along to the hymns, some of which are used in our Primary Masses and celebrations!
15.01.2022 The Year 10 SRC Stationery Stall initiative was a wonderful opportunity for SAC students to top up their stationery supplies while raising funds and awareness to support the education of thousands of students at the School of St Jude in Arusha, Tanzania.

13.01.2022 This week the Year 12 SRC students graduated the SHE Leads High program run by the YWCA Australia. Centered around female empowerment and leadership, the eight week program has involved discussions and activities about topics including gender and leadership, self-care, ethical advocacy and women in the workplace. The program has been a special time for the SRC leaders to bond whilst gaining knowledge and strengthening their leadership skills as they approach life beyond school.
13.01.2022 Yesterday, the Year 11 Design class enjoyed a special tour of the SAHMRI building on North Terrace. This iconic South Australian landmark highlights the importance of form, function and sustainability in architecture. The uplifting, contemporary interiors echo the amazing medical research undertaken on each level of the building.

10.01.2022 It was great to have our Primary Athletics Fun Day last week at the Pulteney Grammar Parklands! Students were excited to finally participate in the athletic activities and although it was a different format to the usual Athletics Carnival, the main aim of the day was for the girls to have fun and enjoy the event. The girls ran, jumped, threw and competed in style!
10.01.2022 As part of their Year 10 Geography studies into Environmental Impacts, students visited the Botanical Gardens to investigate and understand a working wetland and the beneficial effects it has in our environment. The girls also worked individually and in pairs to visually demonstrate the different ways that humans can impact our planet and surroundings.

10.01.2022 It's been an exciting couple of weeks for the SAC Science Faculty celebrating National Science Week 2020 across different year levels with plenty of activities in classrooms and practicals in labs as usual, as well as a number of incursions. Students were fascinated by the interactive presentations from Mobile Science Education on Forces and Energy, and our Year 10 students immersed themselves in a crime solving activity on Forensics Day. There's more to come this week with lunch time Science Escape Rooms! 10.01.2022 Students from 9NW attended the Remembrance Day Ceremony and laid crosses in memory of the 2/43 Battalion at North Terrace War Memorial. SAC has been the custodian of these crosses since 2012 when they were blessed in a ceremony and placed into our hands for safe keeping. Over 200 of them are in memory of the members of the battalion who died while on active service during World War II. It is an honour to keep alive the memory of the deeds of the battalion and of the sacrifices they made to serve our country. Lest we Forget.
09.01.2022 SAC old scholar Vicki Zhang and her colleague Yixiao Zhang from the SA company, Green Gold Energy spoke to Year 8 students this week about large scale solar farming projects and the importance of renewable energy. Vickys inspiration in this field stems from her motivation of making a positive impact on the Earth and careers in this field are the way of the future.

Staff and students came together inspired by our JAM leaders' strong desire to reduce the ever-growing burden on the environment by the fashion industry. Students can pop into the Op Shop for Christmas gifts All proceeds go to Mercy Works projects.

They each got a small group session with AFLW Crows captain Chelsea Randall. Thank you Jaqueline-Marie for entering, to Mix102.3 and AFL Max for an amazing day.
08.01.2022 At our beautiful Mercy Day Mass today we celebrated the International Year of Plant Health. Fr James McEvoy reminded us of Pope Francis message that mercy is Jesus most important message to humanity. With a touching reflection from old scholar Natasya Robert (Class of 2016) everyone was inspired and reminded that a random act of kindness can brighten someones day and to live in mercy is to live by the values of the Sisters of Mercy: Compassion, Courage, Respect, Justice and Integrity.
08.01.2022 11,679 cans of non-perishable food have been donated to the Adelaide Day Centre today after the SAC Can Drive 2020. We are continually amazed by the generosity of the families and staff that make up our school community, even in such difficult times. Thank you.
07.01.2022 Staff and students have been busy preparing for the opening of the SAC Op Shop! A Justice and Mercy Group initiative, the shop aims to instil the ethics of repurposing, recycling and upcycling. Donations have been pouring in, the space is being transformed and we will be ready to launch on Mercy Day! All proceeds from the Op shop will go to Mercy Works projects. 03.01.2022 SAC students embracing art! From the Drawing Club for Year 7 - 9 students to the Calligraphy Club for Year 6 - 9 students and the increasingly popular Anime Club, it's wonderful to see so many students involved in these extra curricular activities throughout the year.
03.01.2022 Year 11 and 12 Drama classes appreciated the chance to perform for a live audience over the last few weeks as they shared their final performances of the year. Students involved in the Drama club, which provided extra opportunities to practise scripts and play games, were happy to celebrate the end of term with a fun disco party!

Students from both Primary and Secondary years are working in their favoured Tournament Discipline in order to solve challenges. Meeting since the start of Term 3, brainstorming ideas and embracing the opportunity, the girls have clearly shown their talents, passion for learning and problem solving skills!
02.01.2022 Our Mercy Day celebrations are always such a fantastic way for the whole school community to connect as Term 3 draws to a close. This Mercy Day, our communitys generosity and spirit of loving kindness has enabled us to raise over $12,000 towards Mercy Works projects.
