20.01.2022 #SAC2020 | Wisdom Literature What is Wisdom? Is there Wisdom among the Nations? Who are the Wise Men and Women of the Old Testament? These are the questions introduced in the first three classes of the unit Wisdom Literature. Described as an elusive creature, the Wisdom of the Ancient Israel represents a part of a larger wisdom quest of the Ancient Near East. Examining Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Canaanite wisdom texts, the students learned that the wisdom is to be found among the Gentiles. They also encountered a mysterious character of the Biblical Wisdom Literature, that will guide us in our search for Wisdom, called Lady Wisdom.
20.01.2022 The Repose of Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church. We send our sincerest condolences to Rev Fr Nebojsa Tumara and the Serbian Orthodox Community on the repose of Patriarch Irinej. May the Lord grant him repose in the bosom of the saints. St Athanasius College had a special relationship with Patriarch Irinej. His Beatitude requested especially to visit St Athanasius College in March 2016 to convey his condolences to the Coptic community on the slaughter of the 21... martyrs of Libya. He delivered a lecture that focused on theology as a hope for the future of the Church. The lecture also emphasised the importance of the patristic, liturgical and eucharistic foundations of theology and highlighted the essential integration of the liturgical life of the church with theology. Fr Daniel Ghabrial, Principal St Athanasius College University of Divinity

What place does authority play in ethical reasoning, and what are its limitations? The unit has begun to ask these questions, and to test the assumptions behind a range of responses to them, in its opening weeks.
