18.01.2022 Last week we celebrated 75 years of Darke Peak branch of SACWA Five members and two visitors along with our Buxton Group President, Merilyn, were privileged ...to visit the home of Daryl McCallum and Deb Pilgrim. Daryl and Deb purchased the Darke Peak RSL Hall and have renovated it into a beautiful home. Fun facts about our current members and the RSL hall: One member attended kindergarten One member was one of the kindergarten teachers One member met her husband at a dance in the Hall Maybe some of our followers have their own memories or stories to share? Following our visit to Debs, we enjoyed lunch and a meeting at the Darke Peak Hotel. A delicious sponge made by Glenda was enjoyed as we celebrated our 75th birthday. Evelyn, a member for over 50 years, was given the honour of cutting the cake Hopefully we can recruit some new members going forward so we can continue to work together and support the great work of SACWA and reach many more milestones as a Branch

16.01.2022 Throwback Thursday: When you are planning your visit to the SACWA Pop Up Shop in the Adelaide Arcade make sure you leave yourself enough time to discover the hi...story of the Arcade. The Adelaide Arcade was opened in 1885 and was hailed as the most modern shopping precinct in the Southern Hemisphere. Did you know that over its three century lifespan, Adelaide Arcade has been home to many interesting tenants - one of the most exotic was the Turkish Baths, where you had your choice of warm baths for a shilling or Turkish baths for four shillings. Beneath the main floor was an underground chamber where patrons could enjoy refreshments. While the entrance was closed for many years, the tea rooms are now visible through a glass floor that has been built over the original ironwork staircase. Take a full virtual tour on the #adelaidearcade website, and learn more about the history of our gorgeous arcade https://adelaidearcade.com.au/history #adelaidearcade #rundlemall #cityofadelaide

09.01.2022 Ooh look what we have back in stock just in time for Christmas. SACWA Whyalla branch teddies in a bassinet that turn into a dilly bag. These have been such a popular item, I know my granddaughter's love them.

09.01.2022 Marketing Monday: What a great marketing opportunity the SACWA have been given to hold a Pop Up Shop in the Adelaide Arcade for five weeks but if we are honest,... also very daunting. Do we have enough stock for the five weeks, do we have enough volunteers to 'man' the shop, how can we price, pack and market our goods before opening day - well this is where we need your help. Can you spare us a few hours this Thursday or Friday between 9:30am and 5:30pm at State Office (30 Dequetteville Terrace, Kent Town). Do you pride yourself on your Christmas wrapping, can you tie a great bow, did you get a gold star for your neat handwriting (for our jam and chutney labels), can you help us with pricing and labelling. Of course you can: come along and volunteer alongside women from other Branches, have a chat, a coffee and contribute to the success of the Adelaide Arcade Pop Up Shop. Many hands make light work. Sharing And Caring With Action Moving forward, are you able to volunteer in the shop, if so, the Marketing Committee would love to hear from you. Email [email protected] with your preferred dates and times - every little bit helps. The shop is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm from Tuesday 10th November to Friday 11th December. There will be a 'Shop Leader' rostered on every day that the shop is open so you won't need to know how to use the cash register! If you can’t make it into State Office this week but want to help, be part of our Marketing campaign: tell your family and friends about the shop, it will be a great place to buy unique Christmas presents, Kris Kringle gifts, stock the pantry and if this weather continues knitted goods and blankets, oh and the best bit you are supporting a great Association.

08.01.2022 Save the date: Saturday 28th November, 2020, 10am to 4pm, SACWA (30 Dequetteville Terrace, Kent Town) Kick off the Christmas season with a visit to SACWA’s Chri...stmas Tree Festival and Market. There will be stalls, raffles, musical entertainment, craft displays, light lunches, Devonshire Tea and children’s activities. There will be working displays of floriculture, cross stitch and Christmas decorations. Only 56 days until Christmas, but who’s counting!

08.01.2022 Marketing Monday: Have you heard - SACWA are Popping Up in the Adelaide Arcade next month. The SACWA elves are busy behind the scenes getting everything ready ...for opening day. Do you remember the Tea Cosy competition we held last year at the Royal Show Pop Up Market, it was a huge success and we sold out of tea cosies so we are needing to re-stock. Do you need a project, if you could knit, sew or crochet just one cosy it would be well appreciated. See more
