11.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT SAFE Metro has some important news to share with all of our amazing followers, you will be noticing some changes over the next few months as we will be restructuring. We would like to take this time to thank all of our amazing supporters and volunteers who have helped us so much over the last few years, and send a special shout out to the amazing core team members past and present who have generously donated so much time and energy to SAFE Metro. ...Below is the official SAFE Inc. announcement regarding the restructure. Due to lack of volunteers the difficult decision has been made to change SAFE Metro from a fully operational branch of SAFE Inc (intaking/adopting out animals), to an admin group, supporting SAFE Inc in the Perth metro area. This shift will take place over the next 3-6 months. This decision has not been made lightly. It has been a constant issue finding and maintaining volunteers and as there are multiple rescue groups in Perth we are comfortable that animals lives aren't at risk with this decision. It will be a relief for the few dedicated volunteers that this pressure to find and maintain volunteers will no longer absorb much of their lives. Between the existing SAFE Metro team and SAFE HQ we are ensuring positive outcomes for current animals and doing our best to thank and notify the appropriate people. We are also ensuring that property and intellectual property is relocated appropriately. SAFE Metro will finalise adoptions on all their existing animals. Existing SAFE Metro foster carers will be given options to remain with SAFE Metro (so they can help regional branch animals in Perth, or migrate to a local allied rescue. New Foster Carer applications will be given these same options. Any relinquishments of SAFE Inc animals in Perth will be managed by the adopting branch. The Metro team will assist by either offering them one of our carers, or working with other allied rescues to place the animals. SAFE Inc would especially like to thank Courtney Lee, Julie Johnson, Sheri Gaudry, Jamie Champion and Deb Palacios for their dedication to SAFE over many years. 08.01.2022 CAN YOU HELP? We are in urgent need of foster carers that are equipped to care for kittens with ringworm. We will provide all disinfectants, medication and washes but animals will need to be able to be quarantined from other pets and only touched with gloves and other PPE to avoid spreading. I’m quite mature for my age as I was found living on the streets with my three small children, my mother and my siblings. 03.01.2022 Hey there fur-iends ! My names Chester and I’m looking for my new fur-amily ! I’m a gentle soul who would prefer a quiet home, one that could take me on several short walks during the day. I love dogs of all sizes, and my carers say I have the best ‘doggy manners’ they’ve ever seen I’ve also met cats before and I’m happy to share my home with them. ... When I came to SAFE Metro I had separation anxiety (on anti-anxiety meds), and was suffering from skin allergies. After some investigation we found I had hip displaysia and the beginnings of some arthritic changes which could have caused my anxiety issues. Luckily I’ve thrived in my foster home with a calmer environment, pain meds, regular gentle exercise, and a different diet, and my vet is very impressed with my progress.
