I knew from the minute I met him that he was special. Our chemistry and attraction to each other was undeniable. It was truly love at first sight. After a month of making excuses to bump into each other at school, we started dating. I had never dated a Black man before, so we both had a lot of learning. He learned what spicy food was, and I received a crash course in R&B. Three months later, we decided to spend forever together and get married. I told him very early that wed have to keep our relationship a secret from my conservative Gujarati Christian parents. My parents, particularly my mom, have always been racist towards Black people. I wanted to wait to tell my parents until Kendall, and I were financially stable, in case my parents werent on board and threatened to disown me. A year into our relationship, my brother told me that my parents were trying to set me up for an arranged marriage. We decided it was now time to tell my parents. My mom was furious and let me know how much she disapproved of my choice. Fortunately, she was overridden by my Dad who reluctantly gave his blessing to Kendall out of respect that Kendall was in med school. We shortly got engaged and married a year later. We just celebrated our first wedding anniversary.Throughout my dating phase, the engagement phase, and even after my wedding, my parents made it very known that deep down they didnt approve of my choice. Kendall and I have slowly started distancing ourselves from my parents due to the blatant racism and lack of respect. I have grown to love Kendall more and more each day. 14.01.2022 What’s on the daycoordination? Perth wedding planners @weddingsbydesign.perth shared what a day in the life looks like. They provide full wedding planning plus on the day coordination and set-up. 0423664322 to set up a free consult Swipe through for a step by step description of the day 1) I picked up the garlands the day before from the supplier so that the bride or her family doesn’t do the running around in the last minute. I ensured they were watered and brought t...o the venue on the wedding day. Things like this often get forgotten and if a family member does pick it up, they are too busy to water the flowers so they end up looking dull and wilted by the time they are used. 2) On the day off the wedding, Neel and I are both at the venue from when the 1st vendor arrives to when the last one leaves. In this case we ensured all the tables were set up correctly with the correct amount of chairs as per the seating plan (which I also helped design and put together) and then we place all the other details such as wedding favours and stationery on the tables. 3) We also help set up DIY centerpieces on the day so that a family member doesn’t need to run around doing this. On this occasion, the decorators were running super late so we did whatever we could to ensure everything is set up before the guests arrived and this meant setting up the centerpieces. 4) Once all the tables are set up and all the vendors are out of the room/hall before the guests arrive, we do one last walk around to ensure everything looks perfect. We double-check all the table numbers and centerpieces, all the glassware and cutlery making sure there are no marks, smudges etc. 5&6) Before it all begins, we ensure that the guests are well looked after and seated. Then I generally check on the bride and Neel will check in with the groom. This is to ensure they are both feeling fine, to help calm their nerves, to assure them that everything is in order and to remind them to enjoy these moments. We answer any of their last minute questions before saying the word GO and kick starting the ceremony. Continued in the caption
