25.01.2022 Amidst all of the COVID chaos, you might be wondering whether it’s safe to have a cleaner enter your home. When the Corona bomb dropped on our lives, I wanted to offer my clients peace of mind in continuing to invite me into their homes. I set about upskilling in cleaning techniques and safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID and other infections. ... I’m pleased to report that I am the proud holder of a certificate in Infection Control Training - COVID19. What this means is that I can safely and confidently enter your home, without spreading nasties, or bringing any home with me. Next month, I’ll be completing a second certificate: Comply with Infection Prevention and Control Policies & Procedures (COVID Clean Training). If I’m ever unwell, I will reschedule your clean for another time. And if you’re unwell, I ask that you do the same. To date, there have been no restrictions on having a cleaner enter your home in South Australia, so please know that it’s absolutely legal to keep your house sparkling and that I have the training to do it safely.

18.01.2022 Thank you for all the likes and welcome to Sage in Bloom I'm so excited to start this next venture. This business came about from me always cleaning so much at my current job, as well finding a natural cleaning product that is the bomb. I decided why not join the two and start my own cleaning business! For those that don't know me, my name is Serina, I am a mum of two to Ollie and Sage, with my partner Reece. My profession is as an Ecologist, however since having childre...n and not being able to work full time,it has taken a backseat. I currently work at Whole + Some (previously Goodies & Grains), which has been fun and supportive of being a part-time mum. I am also a distributor for Young Living essential oils, which I love to bits. This company is one of the main reasons I have become a professional cleaner. Their products are next to none. I have chosen to only use natural products because that is what fits in with my ethos, and I believe that we are subjected to too many harmful chemicals in our everyday lives. Being a mum, I understand how hard it can be to keep your house clean. So, if you are time poor, have children, own a small business, or are physically unable to clean I can do it for you. 17.01.2022 With everything that’s going on in the world, we’re all a little more germophobic than we used to be. You might adore the fresh scent of essential oils wafting through your home after a Sage in Bloom clean, but wonder how my homemade, non-toxic cleaning products stack up against illness-causing germs. Study upon study has determined the antimicrobial effects of certain essential oils (EOs), against a wide range of pathogens, including viruses, bacteria and fungi.... Different EOs are effective against different species of microbe. When using a variety of EOs together, the resulting blend of natural chemical compounds, contained within the oils, has shown to be active against multiple pathogens at once. If you want to delve deeper into the science, check out ‘Essential oils in combination and their antimicrobial properties’, in the journal, Molecules and ‘Antimicrobial properties of plant essential oils against human pathogens’, in Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, as a start. Thieves oil is the base for many of my homemade cleaning products, and contains oils of clove, cinnamon, lemon and rosemary, each of which have shown to inhibit the growth of microbes. Because Corona is an entirely new virus, there is currently no research into the types of EOs that can destroy it. But if you’re especially worried about the dreaded ‘rona infiltrating your home we needn’t use toxic chemicals to keep it at bay. Hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol and ethanol are safe and effective germ killers and early research has shown that even at lower concentrations, they can bust up the bugs that cause COVID. As a mum of two, I absolutely understand the feeling of overwhelm that comes from tidying and cleaning your house with the little ones following close behind undoing your hard work. I also understand that sometimes getting the kids dressed, fed and out the door before the cleaner comes through your home is not always possible. There is never any pressure to be out of the house while we are working! Some of the families we clean for prefe...r to leave us alone in their home while we work, while some prefer to stay home where their kids are happiest and most comfortable. There are even some who know that answering the door in their pyjamas, coffee in and, after being up all night with the baby is absolutely fine with us! 10.01.2022 Inviting a cleaner into your home is a big step and requires a lot of trust on your part. We may only ever cross paths briefly, or we may not meet at all, so I want you to feel like you have a friend taking care of your home, while you’re not there, and not a stranger. If we don’t know each other well, or you’re new to the Sage in Bloom community, allow me to introduce myself ... I’m Serina mum to two beautiful cherubs, Ollie and Sage, essential oils fiend (seriously, what can’t they do?) and lover of all things healthy and low-tox. In a former life, BC (before cherubs), I worked as an ecologist, which honed my interest into the natural world and how we, as humans, impact our environment, for better or worse. Since becoming a mum, I strive for that ever-elusive work life/mum life/me-time balance, and ecology has taken a back seat. Instead, I’ve been working part-time at Whole + Some (formerly known as Goodies & Grains) and as a distributor of Young Living essential oils. Sage in Bloom was born of my desire for greater independence in my work life and my passion for helping others feel the benefits of ditching toxins from their lives. If I’m not cleaning at work, I am cleaning at home (#mumlife) and, upon discovering the most effective, health-giving and gorgeous smelling cleaning agents going ‘round (thanks Young Living), cleaning has become far less chore-y and something I gain a great sense of satisfaction from. I don’t know if it’s the pride I take from making my clients’ homes spotless and their to-do lists shorter, or the mood-enhancing properties of the essential oils I use to clean, but I definitely whistle while I work. I’ve honed my cleaning skills over many years and trained with a long-time professional cleaner to ensure that my clients’ homes receive a thorough and efficient clean, every time. Which is really just a boring way of saying you’ll have the sparkliest home possible, for your buck. Like the doctor who neglects their own health, a cleaner’s house is rarely perfect. When you’re a mum, there aren’t enough hours in a day, and you never need to feel embarrassed about the state of your home. 08.01.2022 There are so many different options if you’d like some help with cleaning your home. While most of my clients prefer a weekly clean, I visit some fortnightly and others monthly. You don’t need to be locked into a regular clean and I never ask that you sign a contract. Perhaps you’re happy to do the weekly vacuum and mop but can’t STAND cleaning the shower and oven.... Maybe you’re coming up to the end of your lease, or about to put your home on the market, and you can’t get your head around organising all.the.things in your cupboards, let alone scrubbing them out afterwards. Please pop me a message if you’d like to discuss a specific cleaning project or book in a regular clean with me. I work around you as much as possible - I understand that life happens and you may need to reschedule from time to time, book in the occasional longer clean, or drop to a less frequent cleaning schedule. I am currently heavily booked, which I’m extremely grateful for (‘rona had me a bit worried there for a time), but I’ve been on the lookout for a superstar Sadie, who’s passionate about all things green-living, and I look forward to offering you greater flexibility and being able to clean more of your beautiful homes very soon.
