15.01.2022 Aunt Jodie’s Guide to Evolution, a book for children aged 7-11, launches on Pozible in January 2019. "As a nerdy parent who loves reading to my daughter, I was frustrated that I couldn’t find interesting children’s fiction with a strong STEM message to help her learn about the world. I know there are lots of other parents out there who really want to instill a love of science in their children, but don’t know how to do it. So I wrote us a book" - Aunt Jodie's Guide to Evoluti...on. Written by Dr Jordan Bell, illustrated by Gabriel Cunnett and reviewed by paleontologist Professor John Long, Aunt Jodie’s Guide promises to be a compelling story of adventure and discovery, that is engaging and interesting to kids and parents alike. Add your email to the list to hear more about Aunt Jodie’s Guide to Evolution, and get an invitation to the launch party in Adelaide in January.
15.01.2022 South Australia once led the way on progressive issues and whilst Abortion in the metropolitan areas is available, the law and costs prohibit access for many women in our state. Sign the petition to show your support for safe and legal access to abortion care without unnecessary and sometimes impossible hoops to jump through.
09.01.2022 HSSA condemn the murders of innocent men, women and children in New Zealand who were simply gathered in their place of worship. It is the right, enshrined in the Declaration of Human Rights, for all people to assemble in safety to observe their religious practices, and these people should have been safe. We stand with the Muslim community in sadness. We condemn the comments of Senator Fraser Anning, who, in his grasping for personal notoriety whilst being colossally ignorant and misguided, blamed the victims of this atrocious crime simply for being in a country that welcomes them. Fear and hate only begets fear and hate. We, the vast majority of loving, caring humans, must come together and rise above the rhetoric of dog whistling and fear mongering.
04.01.2022 It's a no brainer, women don't need a morally bankrupt church telling them what they can and cannot do with their own bodies.
03.01.2022 A new Education bill is scheduled to be debated in Parliament here in South Australia today. It has a sneaky opt-out clause when it comes to Religious Instruction. Despite requiring a consent form which contains extensive information, if that form isn't returned the bill allows for a child to be placed in Religious Instruction sessions. That is without the express consent of the parents or care givers. This cannot be allowed to stand, so if you have the time, sign the petition or ring a Member of the Legislative Council and express your concern and your desire for an opt-in system of consent. At no time should silence be considered consent.
