20.01.2022 It can be hard when someone gives you a design brief of I want it to feel like an invitation to come and share space, create energy and connect at a groovy body moving party. But Genna hit the nail on the head. From the arch to the colours, Genna helped me visually articulate what Yoke and Phlo is . The Arch symbolises a backbend, an open door and in tarot it symbolises the expansiveness of the sky. In both backbends and door openings there is an invitation for humans to be... curious, shift perspectives, open themselves to what's inside. . That’s exactly the aim of Yoke and Phlo. It is an invitation for you to shift your perspective inwards and to delve into the expansive cellular wisdom of your body and experience yoga in its truest form. . The logo colours (each and every one!) are diverse. Everyone is different, everyone goes to yoga for different reasons, and everyone is at a different place physically, mentally and energetically. Each colour, every invitation is different. From me to you, every class is an energetic offering, so take what you need. . Thank you @gennamaroussis Genna for your artistic eye and turning my scattered design briefs and concepts into such a beautiful invitation. . And without further ado, for all moving bodies, this is your the formal initiation to come along, move, explore and groove with what's going on for you. I’m off to Sri Lanka today but come September keep your eyes peeled! Otherwise get in contact to book a private or corporate. P x

19.01.2022 Sunday Cat Stretch . In living things, solutions are rarely found in a part, because the part has no meaning when looked at alone. Solutions are found in the relationship between parts . When we stretch or move, often it is to strengthen and lengthen one part of the body- tight hamstrings, bad knees, core or the thorax spine. This is referred to as ‘mereological fallacy’, a tendency to ascribe a part of a thing to a quality of a whole. Rather than focusing on that part alo...ne, it is more beneficial to look at the relationship between that part of the body with the rest of the body and how the body is interacting with the world around it when it moves. - P. Blackaby, 2018 . When a cat has its morning stretch, it stretches as a whole. Next time, you’re on the mat and in a difficult asana or running, rather than focusing on the part where the sensation is strongest, Focus on how the whole body can become involved: your skeletal structure, muscles, every fibre and particularly your breath and nervous system . Public Classes: Mon- 12:15 pm Quro Health Fri- 17:15 pm Quro Health

18.01.2022 This week, I’ve set the intention to delete the following statements from my vocabulary in and out of the yoga studio, in conversations with myself and those around me: You should... You have to.. You need to.. .... As a yoga teacher and a friend, Im not sure these statements are ever helpful. Particularly in conversations of personal vulnerability. When others open up to us and when we feel ourself fall into a mental/ emotional slump, often we are quick to give advice, advice that comes from a place of love and wanting to help fix another’s problems. But Im starting to realise that a lot of the time, people have had these conversations in their head a million times and have already said to themselves the statement you should..you need to...you have to before they say them out loud. . Rather than advice, they are just looking for a safe place to verbalise their thoughts, to feel comforted and maybe a sense of validation. . Sometimes people just need a hug and an ugly cry to release stagnant energy. Excitingly, I’ve signed up to do @janine.leagh.alchemy 50 hour embodied being to understand further my understanding of how to hold a space for students . I’d love to open this up for conversation. Do you agree? Do you disagree? @one_big_heart

07.01.2022 We improve our everyday movements by paying attention to the way we do them . Most of the activities we do daily, unconsciously, like walking, standing and picking up things is due to a process called body mapping. Anything you do regularly gets mapped into the sensory motor cortex of the brain. .... How do we know if we are performing habituated movements in a functional way and how can we improve them? . Get groovy with what’s going on inside you! Fuck the alignment cues. What does a pose feel like in your body? How can you create space? Where can you encourage more stability throughout? What can you feel? How is your heart? . You’ve got one bod, pay attention to it, get feelin and have a funky time with it!

05.01.2022 How’s your pelvis? Humans are just vehicles of energy exchange. In a constant state of flux, with every breath, on a cellular level, energy is being generated, shifted and restored. The biggest center of mass, the pelvis, allows us to experience a complete flow of energy and circulation from the top of our head through to our feet. . An attachment point for 35 muscles, fundamentally important for the position and alignment of the spine and interconnected with the whole b...ody through the fascial matrix, finding your version of a neutral pelvis is important for the functional, emotional and energetic movement of your whole being. Rather than dysecting and breathing into the muscle you feel the strongest sensation, can you set your intention to find more balance within your movement? within your pelvis? . Think about it, You are hanging up a hammock on the verandah of your house on your private island. The hammock is attached by 4 bits of rope, one is really tight and the others are loose, causing it to be lopsided. You wouldn’t go to the piece of rope that was tight and try to stretch the rope itself, you’d look at the other 3 pieces, the way it is tied etc etc. The intention is to create a structure that is balanced so you don’t fall out when drinking your margarita. I know I just likened your pelvis to a hammock and your body to an island but it's better than my cake analogyThe point is focus on finding balance in your own body . In all my classes, students are encouraged to groove, find your own definition of what neutral is and what balance feels like inside of you. I’ve openings from September for corporate, private and I am working on some exciting workshops (Yay!). You can send a dm on here or subscribe to be the first to find out about workshops X

03.01.2022 I haven’t been practicing many asanas recently but I’ve been practicing yoga and moving from a place of pleasure every day

01.01.2022 This week in class, I’ve been speaking about the theme of ‘ Leading with self acceptance and effort over thought and strain’ Strain is heavy, starts in the mind and comes from a place of self- rejection because we don’t approve where we are and are pushing ourselves to somewhere we need to be. But if we turn off this voice and listen to how our body is doing and even accept where it is in the present, intention and effort come from a more organic process and from a p...lace of self acceptance and love What if we surrendered to how we feel, accept where we currently are and be curious about how we can grow from this feeling rather than surrendering to the ‘needing’ to be better and straining ourselves to a point of pain? I’ve got some spaces left next week on Monday and Friday. Come and find your phlo Xx
