12.01.2022 Safety on Australia's most iconic waterway is in for a boost, with the delivery of a new state-of-the art patrol boat. NSW Maritime Acting Executive Director Alex Barrell said the new eight-metre NSW Maritime patrol boat would be operated on Sydney Harbour by boating safety officers who provide on-water safety advice and help to boaters 365 days a year. "Sydney Harbour-based boating safety officers have their job cut out for them with the diversity of water craft, from kayaks... to the Manly ferry, and this new patrol boat will help with the task of keeping everyone on the harbour safe," Mr Barrell said. "The new vessel is equipped with the latest navigation equipment, including digital switching that will allow operation from two multi-functional display screens. It also features Doppler radar, a rear facing camera, 3D sonar and sounder and forward-looking Infrared technology." Mr Barrell said the vessel will be used in daily patrols of Sydney Harbour and Port Jackson, for on-water traffic management during large aquatic events like the Sydney to Hobart race start and during search and rescue and salvage operations. "NSW Maritime's latest vessel also features a robust design to reduce maintenance costs, with the latest environmentally friendly low-emission outboard engines," Mr Barrell said. "It is larger than the vessel it replaces and will provide improved offshore capability through the heads of Sydney Harbour to keep up with steadily increasing recreational and commercial boating activities in the area." 05.01.2022 Today was the day that Barry collecting his brand new 2800 Sailfish catamaran. Barry and his son Kevan are keen fisho's..... Originally they decided on a 7.65mt...r model S8 with 2.5 mtr beam as there choice, however when I showed them the L shaped lounge in the larger 8.2 boat with wider 2.8 beam, that changed there mind to go the bigger boat. We pulled the beam in 100mm to 2.7 mtr so they can tow legally 24/7 with a oversize permit. Going to the 2.7 mtr beam totally opens up the boat from the standard 2.5 mtr beam. The internal room is massive: - Up front are 2 separate bunks - On front port side is a full height walk in toilet complete with hot/cold water shower - With L shaped lounge/table its ideal to live aboard - The rear of the cabin features a glass lock up door plus the rear port side window gas struts open so it totally opens up the boat Out the back is a 2 burner gas stove, 110 litre fridge/freezer ice box, 2 x kill tanks, 2 x live bait tanks, pot winch with arm for pulling cray pots, outriggers for trolling and full rear shade. To suit extended trips we've added a lithium house battery system with solar panel back up. Plenty of water with 200 litres and 600 litres of fuel There's a awesome Fusion stereo system, tons of LED lighting, Furuno 15’’ touch screen sounder/GPS, auto pilot and power steering.
