25.01.2022 The Burdekin Falls Dam was impressive. Ken enjoyed fishing even if it was unsuccessful. Note the bird dropping from the pelicans. They must fish there all the time. There is a good camping area at the top of the dam wall with excellent facilities. Even a swimming pool, however, it's filter was faulty and so the pool was closed.
25.01.2022 The ghost photo taken of us at the bar. Mullet, Ken, Bron, Rick and another member of this fun group of fellows.
23.01.2022 Looking forward to the water warming up sometime soon...
23.01.2022 A glory morning here in Townsville. We are up early in the hopes to catch a fish or two.
21.01.2022 I spent some time diving around Cape Town, South Africa as a teenager, I so wish I knew then what I know now about all the life living under the sea. I don't think I appreciated the splendour of what I was seeing then as much as I do now.
20.01.2022 Wonderful Vanuatu, I hope we can get back there again in the not too distant future. https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-vanuatu-nekio/12679962
20.01.2022 A trip to Flinders Island is made complete when I can get up close to one or two of Kate’s orphan wombats.
16.01.2022 We enjoyed our time on Flinders Island and headed home on Wednesday. The weather changed earlier than forecast and we spent the night anchored off Tin Kettle Island for the night. Next day we moved to a bay off Cape Barron Island because the wind had changed. Three times the anchor dragged, fortunately We eventually got it to ‘stick’. Woke at 04:00 this morning and made good time across Bass Strait and got into York Cove at 19:00 this evening. The video was taken after we had finally got the anchor to stick! Sailing is not always glamorous- but we wouldn’t have it any other way. A little bit of cold & wet is a small price to pay for the wonderful pleasure we enjoy.
14.01.2022 So sad. https://www.abc.net.au//mass-whale-strandings-in-/12686734
14.01.2022 The rope is so important to us when sailing. Since being in COVID I have discovered macrame and love 'rope'/cord etc. https://www.facebook.com/watch/
13.01.2022 People often ask us 'what is it like out there' - this video shows that nicely. Note - the vessel in the video weighs 60 t and Nichola weighs about seven. Nichola is 10m long. We do not have radar nor satellite phones, we keep a very close eye on the barometer, sea and sky!... We were caught in a storm with 7m swells on our way to New Zealand in 2017. We put out a sea anchor, battened down all the hatches and waited for two days until the storm had passed. I can't wait until we are able to go serious sailing again. https://www.youtube.com/watch See more
12.01.2022 Our sailing friends Martin & Gwen from SV No Soucy, who’s boat we are looking after here in Tasmania, were featured in a French Sailing magazine recently. We had fun translating it by taking photos of the text online. Thanks for mentioning us guys. We are looking forward to, eventually, taking No Soucy home to you in New Caledonia.
11.01.2022 Fun memories of sailing with dolphins https://www.facebook.com/bron.hogan/posts/10155945864286589

09.01.2022 Babinda Boulders is an hour’s drive south from Cairns. It has a short walk through lush vibrant rainforest, plenty of birds and butterflies. One of our favourite places to visit.
08.01.2022 Going through old videos so I can free up some space in the cloud. Came across this one of Lord Howe Island.
07.01.2022 Something to warm your heart this morning. Two cute little Tassie Devils. https://www.facebook.com/watch/
07.01.2022 We are looking forward to being able to do this again in the not too distant future. https://www.facebook.com/bron.hogan/posts/10156657437191589
06.01.2022 Things are looking up for cruisers - YAY, Lord Howe Island is 'opening up' again. https://www.abc.net.au//lord-howe-island-reopens-/12723306
05.01.2022 Sailed across from Flinders Island to York Cove, George Town.
05.01.2022 Being in lockdown has given Ken an opportunity to paint again. His latest work really demonstrates his love of the ocean. He has been working on pieces for an exhibition to be held on Flinders Island in February.
01.01.2022 This is the bar crossing that Martin mentions in their article https://fb.watch/ElS4xH4Oc
01.01.2022 Anderson Botanical Gardens, Townsville. We have been so impressed by how many different birds there are here. The birdsong is wonderful. Except for the curlews who wake us up at night with their screaming screeching!
